CYBERLINK COVE (SKYHOOK ISLE)-2077

“C’mon boys, pull ‘er in!” Jared Wistmore’s deep voice rang out across the small motorboat. It was around dusk, with the sun totally gone from the sky. Jared was a gangly man with milk chocolate skin and mocca-colored eyes. He had gotten married to Mina a few years back, and when he spotted her small figure headed towards him, the side of his lip quirked up in a small smile. He hauled two crates full of fresh marijuana imported from the pastures of Jamaica out of the motorboat and set them on the damp sand, and hopped out.

“Hey there,” he greeted Mina, looking in her direction.

“You got the medicine?” she asked him.

“Sure did!” he responded cheerily.

Medicine was the code word for “marijuana”. The clever thing was, Jared always made sure to find medicine bottles to stuff into the crates on top of the marijuana. He’d been stopped multiple times by suspicious government agents, and the legitimate bottles of medicine had saved his skin more than once. Better safe than sorry, even if it required more crates and money for the empty medicine bottles.

“I’d go the long way bringing the creates in,” Mina hissed out of the corner of her mouth. “The bar’s busy, and some govs are coming in on the docks out there. Best to make sure no one sees you.”

Jared nodded slightly and turned towards a small pathway that hugged the side of the promontory and gradually leveled out to the small field of palm trees behind Smugglers Tavern. He stacked the two crates on top of each other and headed down the path. “Mina, I’ll see you later tonight, alright?”

“Sure thing,” she said in a hushed tone. Mina and Chrissy turned the other way and went back the way they came.

Meanwhile, Marissa Austin’s passenger ferry was pulling up to Skyhook Isle. She had a curvaceous figure with wavy coffee-colored hair that fell down to her ribcage and sparkling, intelligent eyes. Marissa actually lived very far away from Cyberlink Cove, on another chain of islands somewhere in the Pacific. She came to Cyberlink Cove for the rare treatment for her mother’s heart disease. However, her family was nowhere near to affording the cure, so Marissa was also there to get a job as a nurse and raise enough money to purchase it.

As she stepped off the ferry into the chilly night, Daniel Thomas was hurrying to where Jared and his motorboat had been minutes earlier. The boat had been stowed behind the rock outcropping, completely invisible to the casual observer. Marissa noticed him, and almost ran into him. She giggled slightly. “Sorry,” Marissa said, an apologetic expression on her face.

Thomas turned around, and jumped a bit. He grinned down at Marissa. “It’s fine, it’s kinda my fault. I wasn’t watching where I was going,” he said, chuckling a bit. Thomas stared down into her insightful eyes. There was something about her that he found extremely attractive.

Noticing where Thomas was headed to, Marissa tilted to head to the side, curious. “What’s so special about that?” she asked, pointing towards the promontory.
