Chapter two: I hate you, Travis Rodriguez.

''Susan Lieberson and Landon Thakrar,'' Mr. Mackentosh called, looking into the room questioningly.

''Fuck!'' I heard a short boy, in a row in front of me, muttering under his breath, before rising to his feet and trudging to the front. Susan a slim built girl, with good grades, stalked towards the teacher trying to cover up her scowl with a  friendly smile, which just turned out to resemble a grimace.

Mr. Mackentosh beamed down at them, ''Here,'' he handed them a sheet of paper like he had done to the pair before them, ''go find a quiet spot to answer these.''

He called up the next two people. Two boys that everyone had a serious feud going on. They didn't try and do the Headmaster the pleasantries by masking their unhappiness. They too were handed a sheet of paper with questions, both of them furiously stomped out of the room.

''Noah Elton and Grace Vancura,'' The dun-haired Headmaster boomed.

Noah cursed.

''Dude,'' Ava said, lightly punching his arm, ''stop pulling a face like you are going to a funeral. It won't be that bad.''

Noah's dark gray eyes, holding so much concern and discomfort, switched to me. ''You'll be fine,'' I reassured him, smiling.

He nodded his head and pushed himself off the chair. I saw him gulp, before tottering to the front. Grace already awaited him, she looked uneasy. Once they had left Ava was called up and was paired with Melanie. She didn't need much confiding and she didn't restrain from groaning out loud as Melanie's name had been said.

More and more people were called up after that. In the end, it was only approximately ten people left - including Travis. I prayed to God that I wouldn't be paired with him but I knew otherwise. It was very likely that he'd be my partner for the next months.

''Alexis Smith,'' Mr. Mackentosh spoke, ''and,'' I held my breath and waited for him to reveal his name, ''Travis Rodriguez.'' I sighed quietly and let doom wash over me.

I stepped to the front and tried to smile at a madly grinning Headmaster. He handed me a sheet of questions and we waited for my partner to step to the front, but he didn't.

''Travis Rodriguez?'' Mr. Mackentosh asked.

My eyes scanned the room until they landed on hair the color of honey. A couple of strands fell onto his forehead as he bobbed his head up and down to the beat of the music. His hands deeply tucked into his black hoodie and his eyes set on the floor.

The Headmaster gaited over to the unaware fellow.

I sighed and leaned onto the desk that stood in the front.

Before Mr. Mackentosh could tap him, Travis' head snapped up. The Headmaster was slightly surprised and marginally jumped back. ''What?'' Tarvis barked.

The teacher calmly stated, ''You have been called to the front.''

''And?'' He asked in a bored tone.

''Your partner is waiting for you,'' Mr. Mackentosh answered patiently.

''So?''

''Have you not been listening while I was speaking?'' Mr. Mackentosh demanded sternly.

''You were speaking?'' I knew that Travis was doing it to annoy the teacher, but it didn't seem to work with Mr. Mackentosh as he explained everything to him again.
