Chapter fourteen: Here, I was trying to be badass for once and it completely backfires.

I watched pointedly as Savanna jumped up and down, clapping her hands like a six-year-old who was just promised a chocolate ice cream. ''This is so cool, guys!'' She chanted, her eyes blazing.

Tamara, who had just finished setting all of her clothes into the closet, turned around. She was beaming. ''I totally agree.''

The bathroom door opened and Ava emerged. ''Guys, did anyone think of bringing toilet paper?''

''No,'' I answered. ''Why would I think of taking toilet paper to Europe?''

Ava sighed and peered over her shoulder to look into the tiny bathroom. ''Turns out we should've bought toilet paper because they don't supply us with it.''

Tamara's eyebrows snapped together. ''Are you serious?''

Ava's nose crinkled. ''Very.''

I blew out a big amount of air. ''Well, shit.''

Tamara and Ava nodded their agreement.

''I'll go to the teachers,'' Tamara offered.

''I'll join,'' Ava said.

''Okay, good. We'll just stay here and unpack.'' I glimpsed over to Savanna who was searching for the on button of our TV.

Ava and Tamara came back fifteen minutes later. I had managed to unpack all of my belongings and do my bed.

''So?'' I asked, pushing myself off my bed and placing my book on the nightstand. ''What did they say?''

Savanna slightly lowered her phone, where she had embarrassingly been posing for some Snapchat pictures.

''Apparently, there are communal toilets in the hallway that we can use,'' Ava said.

''Are you serious?'' Savanna asked in ridicule. Her phone was lying on the bed and we had her full attention now.

''Very,'' Ava replied. Her brow twitched.

Savanna's face screwed up. It almost looked like she was in pain. ''But that's so gross!'' She exclaimed.

''It's not that bad,'' I jumped in.

Her eyes snapped over to me. They looked me up and down and her nostrils flared slightly. 'You disgust me' they literally said. ''Maybe, where you come from, it's not that bad. But not from where I was raised.''

I wanted to point out that we've been in the same class since first grade, so basically we were raised in the same place. I didn't, instead, I pressed down on my tongue. Hard and smiled tensely.

''Okay! It's getting tense,'' Tamara squeaked into the room.

''Both of you chill,'' Ava contributed.

''We are chilling!'' Savanna and I exclaimed like out of one mouth.

Note: People who say things into a silence that isn't even true, annoy me. In seventh grade, people thought it was funny to drawl the word awkward into the room, whenever there was a silence. In the beginning, it had a pretty funny level of funniness in it but then people just overused it.

Note two: I've noticed, people often overuse things. Or words, in this case.

''I'm going to go use the bathroom,'' I said and left.
