KNOCK

I groan, turning around in the bed.

"Troy, get the door." I groan, but nothing. I open my eyes and look beside me to see no one.

I get up and wrap the blanket around me. I walk up to the door and open it to see Jake.

"Have you seen T-" I get cut off.

"He told me to get you to your family." I follow Jake, people around us throwing up and other killing zombies.

"Jake, what's going on? Where's Troy?" I ask him, but he ignores me until we reach my cabin but my family isn't there.

"DAISY!" I look up to see Alicia with Nick, I rush over to their side as Nick throws up.

"Whats going on?" I wonder.

"We don't know except that Ofelia did it." Alicia replies.

~

I wake up next with an empty cabin, I go outside to see most people in beds or body bags.

I never liked her... But I need to find my family and Troy.

I go to the green infirmary, seeing Alicia, Jake, and Nick... But Nick was in a bed.

"Nick, you're going to be alright." I whisper as I take his hair out of his face.

"Mom went to check what it was, check the cure." Alicia tells me.

"Troy?" I wonder.

"His house." I rush out of the infirmary and to Troy's house.

KNOCK

KNOCK

I open the door without his permission, walking up to the bedroom. I open the bedroom door to see him sleeping but snoring just a little bit.

He's so cute.

I sit beside him in the bed, fixing his shirt that got unbuttoned.

"Mhh." I smile, kissing his forehead.

"Morning sunshine." I say as he open his eyes.

"Your brother needs you." I add.

Troy sits up, ruffling his hair. I stand up and go to his closet, taking his army clothes out and placing it on the other side of the bed.

"Come here." Troy mumbles, patting the space beside him.

"Troy, we can't cuddle. Its a disaster out there." I tell them, I walk out of his house or he's not ever going to help his brother.

He goes to the infirmary while I go to my tree and started reading my book.

"Nick is good as new." Alicia says, siting beside me.

"Mom is never going to accept it." I say.

"If you love him, stay with him. Don't end something for mom, but don't run away either-" I cut her out.

"Either way I ruined all our relationships when I left with Joshua."

"You can built it back up." I look up at the gate to see mom and Troy with a trailer.

"The hell." I mumble and go up there with Alicia.

"You scared, Jeremiah?" Nick asks him.

"Better be careful, son, you may not like my hospitality, but I guarantee you, you'll find it better than theirs." Jeremiah says.

I roll my eyes and go back to the tree, ignoring my family.

"We need to talk." Alicia says bluntly.

"What's wrong?" I ask.

"You're boyfriend killed innocent people!" She screams.

"I'm sorry that not everyone is perfect!" I argue.

I follow behind Alicia to the cabin, what's happening?

"Oh and we got until tomorrow at sundown to clean out or die." Alicia says.

Once we reach the cabin, mom and Nick are already waiting.

"You three have never been to Montgomery." Mom says as I take out a bag to pack.

"No, you never took us. Not even when your mom died." Alicia says.

"No... There was a man there. A local councilman. And he had a beautiful wife and... they had a lonesome little girl. The girl knew everybody loved her daddy. Just- They loved him 'cause he knew everyone's name, all their kids' names, who went off to what college, who was recovering from what illness. And he knew when to turn the ballot boxes. And which ones to burn. But what he didn't know, what he never could learn... was when to turn down a drink. So , life was hard for the little girl. It was harder for her mother. As she grew, she got tired. Tired of crying. Goddamn exhausted icing her mother's face.  Pulling out stitches 'cause her mama didn't wanna go back to the emergency room. She just got tired. One morning, she ate her cereal. She brushed her teeth for school. She took the gun out of her daddy's dresser. She shot him. Shot him while he slept off the night before... Yeah.  My mama look at me then like you're looking at me now. I knew that was something I'd have to carry. I'd do it again. I'd live with the look.  I'd do it a thousand times to protect her. To protect you." Mom speaks.

"Mom..."  I start, that must have been awful for her. I'm even shredding a few tears.

"I'm gonna go talk to an old man, convince him to set aside his pride, make peace with the enemy." Mom says, she stands up and leaves.

Nick stands up and leaves after her.

"I-I'll be back." I mumble.

I get up and go to were I'm staying at.

BANG

My eyes widen, and I look to were the sound came from.

Mom.

I run up to the big house after Troy and Jake, but my mom comes out.

"Mom!" I exclaim as I bring her into a hug.

"I thought it was you, oh god." I whisper as I pull away, checking her up and down.

"Its okay, honey." I look inside to see Troy kneeling in front of his father.

"So... you approve yet?" I ask her.

"If he treats you right and you want to spend the rest of your life with him, then yes."
