Wait, the plane has a holo-table and no one told me? Not cool!

"I'll set to work on examining what's left." Fitz said as we entered the lab.

"Brynn, I need to examine you for any side effects of the artifact." Simmons told me.

"Well, me dying should have cleared up any negative ones but alright." I shrugged, walking after her. She led me to a secluded section of the lab and pointed at a table. I smirked.

"Putting out before the first date, Jemma darling? How naughty." I joked. Simmons blushed but rolled her eyes.

"That's harrassment." Simmons remarked, keeping her calm.

"Jemma darling, you might just be one of my favorites so far." I grinned at her in delight, shrugging out of my RAF coat. Setting it aside, I pushed down my suspenders and rolled up my sleeves.

"Do you always period dress?" Simmons inquired, cleaning my inner elbow to take a blood sample.

"Honey, you might not believe me but I was in the RAF during the second Great War." I smirked at her.

"Admittedly, that was the first time around when I still had a hard time loosing the Welsh accent. The second time was the American side. Flying planes was fun though, especially against the Luftwaffe." I added wistfully. Simmons froze, realization crossing her face.

"I was a Companion," Simmons said softly. My face lit up.

"The Doctor was a great guy, I was his companion for awhile as well. He's why I'm this way and when he comes back, I'll find out." I glared heatedly at the far wall, silent, while Simmons did the rest of her tests. When she was done, Simmons retreated to give me some privacy and I rolled my sleeves back down, pulling up my suspenders. As I did so, an old photo fluttered to the ground and I knelt quickly to pick it up. It was a tattered photo, the color faint, of me and two other men. One was a tall blonde, the other a slightly shorter brunette. On the back was an old friends handwriting, 'Capt. Brynn Harkness, Capt. Steve Rogers, Sgt. Bucky Barnes. October 17, 1943.'  I let out a long sigh, putting the picture back into the inner pocket of my jacket, pulling it on as I left the lab and went to my temporary quarters.

"Brynn, how're you holding up?" Ward asked, entering my room as I hung up my coat and sat on the edge of my cot. Shrugging, I leaned back and patted the seat next to me. He took and leaned back as well, pulling me to his chest.

"It's good to be working with you again," I told him, curling into his side slightly.

"You too. Even if you flirt with anything that moves." Ward teased, tickling my side slightly. I giggled, squirming in his arms before relaxing against his chest.

"You been around as long as I have, you learn what's safe to sleep with and what isn't. You also learn about yourself. And how to read others." I replied.

"I forgot how heavenly your coffee was." Ward said. I snorted in amusement, chuckling softly.

"Off topic much? I'm guessing you want a cup?" I grinned at him, sitting up and using his chest as leverage. He winced as my elbow dug into him but didn't speak out.

"Please?" Ward pouted. I let out a laugh.

"Of course, cariad. I'll bring enough for everyone to the lab." I shot him a grin as I rose, walking out. Ward's laugh echoed after me and I smiled to myself, glad that he was getting better after the disaster in Uzbekistan. I made my way to the main room, going right for the coffee machine I had spotted during my tour.

"No one has used that ever. Good luck." Skye said, smirking at me before gathering her things and heading downstairs. I uttered a noise of disgust, wrinkling my nose before I turned to face the pristine-looking coffee machine. Shrugging, I  made sure it was plugged into the outlet then started it up. I had to dump the first batch and make a second one before I brought it down to the lab, using a tray to carry all the cups in one go.

"Coffee," I announced, walking in and handing them out. Once that was done, I leaned against the table, setting the tray aside, and took a drink of mine.

"This is pretty good," Melinda said. I smiled and almost jumped when the table 'turned on'.

"What the hell?" I asked, staring at it.

"It's a holo-table." Fitz told me, setting his coffee aside to pull up the results of tests FitzSimmons had been running.

"Wait, wait, wait. We have a holo-table?" At Coulson's nod I let out a frustrated noise, "Why did no one tell me? That's so not cool." I pouted.

"Oh, get over it Brynn." Ward rolled his eyes.

"You're mean. What'd'ya figure out, Fitz?" I asked the Scottish scientist.

"It's definitely alien but I don't think it was originally a bomb. The components of it are all wrong." Fitz replied. I leaned over and looked at the holographic image closely.

"I've seen this before. I can't believe it exploded." I pouted.

"What was it?" Fitz asked eagerly. I gave him a manic grin.

"You really wanna know?" I replied. He nodded, Ward just shook his head.

"Believe it or not but not all aliens are harmful, many exist peacefully on Earth or in their galaxies. This, however, was a knowledge beacon. I thought they no longer existed but the reason it blew up is because I didn't use it correctly." I explained.

"What's a knowledge beacon?" Skye inquired.

"Exactly what it implies. It soaks up knowledge, learning all it can and if you can get it open correctly, you can have access to that knowledge. I believe that this specific pod is a few centuries old," I shrugged. The team looked at me in amazement while Simmons was grinning.

"Its harmless, really." I added on, noting Coulson's look.

I just realized how OOC Ward (and everyone else) is but then again, Brynn herself is going to change a lot of the Marvel world. Also, Simmons being a Doctor's companion is my headcannon, I think she would be a perfect Companion to the doctor.

I haven't figured out the whole logistics of her fighting in World War Two twice just yet but I love the idea of her being a Howling Commando and right alongside Steve and Bucky the entire way, maybe loving Howard or knowing Tony as a child at one point.
