Jack
We intertwine our hands as we walk down the hallway filled with elves and yetis. With her other hand, Toothy tucks some of my hair behind my other ear like she did before. She comes up on her toes and whispers in my ear.
"I love you," she says. I hesitate to say it back. Is this who I really will love for the rest of my life? I wrap my arms around her into a hug to safely reply.
Once we get to the corridor where our rooms are located, she locks her lips with mine. I let her. I feel care-free at that moment. After a few seconds, she lets go.
"Are you sure you don't want to talk about this morning?" She asks.
I hesitate. Then I lean towards her and mutter "I'll tell you when we get to my room." She nods.
We approach my room carelessly. I go to my room and change my shirt, but in the middle, the Tooth Fairy walks in.
"Jack," she sings. "Guess where we are..."
"You know perfectly well where we are. Unless you forgot."
"We're in you're room. You've got to tell me."
"What do I have to tell you?"
"Something's going on with you, Jack. You seemed off when you started being a guardian. What's going on?"
I sigh. I have to do tell her. No backing out now. "It's just that, you know..."
"No, I don't know. I'm not psychic, Jack. You have to tell me."
"I mean, do you know that feeling that something's missing in your life?" She nods. "So, that's kind of what I'm feeling. I feel empty. I need something to happen. I need more purpose." Her eyes like deep violet pools of swirling dye look up at my blue ones.
"I'm so sorry, Jack," She says.
"It's not your fault." I hold my arms out to give her a hug. Her arms are warm, but my bare back must be freezing because I'm Jack Frost (note the last name Frost). I squeeze her for a few minutes and stay out of the control room for the rest of the day.
