Two weeks had passed since Brennen had left the hospital with all his friends and who he discovered was his best friend, Colby Brock.

"He's...Well he was-"

"I'm your best friend: Colby Brock"
A small, quiet hiccup followed his words as a side affect of his earlier sobbing.

"Col-"

"Aren't I guys? We've been friends for years"

Brennen noticed the confused look on some of the group's faces but he didn't really have time to ask further as the bouncy nurse came back with Corey stating that he was free to go.

"Um, so do you want a hand, Brennen?" Colby asked smiling the best he could with an absolutely messed up physique and face covered up by his hooded sweatshirt.
Brennen found himself strangely happy as he took Colby's hand and began to sit up slowly.
Maybe they could rekindle the fire of their friendship?
He hoped so.

And here he was now, attending to the little café he missed so much. Warm pastel colours, the smell of freshly baked goods and refreshing drinks, and of course the adorning fans. He even talked to a few of the hosts with packed tables, all of them practically screaming over seeing and meeting Brennen. He asked about Colby too, but everyone gave the same general answer of the two being best friends but the fans wanting more. They even had a ship name: Brolby.
Brennen found it rather weird that he'd play into that kind of thing for as long as his fans had reassured him he had, but then again he always liked to play around.

Brennen began ushering everyone out with sweet goodbyes when it turned dark, although not planning on closing up quite yet. He grabbed a polished wooden broom and swept the floor thoroughly, backing all crumbs into the front right corner of the shop since he found that easiest to clean up from. Standing up, Brennen saw a figure walking past the glass windows up front. Short dark hair, beanie on their head, red jumper-

The broom clattered to the ground below as he rushed up to the tinted glass door to swing it open.

"Hey Colby!"

Brennen really didn't know why he felt the urge to say something so loudly, but he clapped a hand around his mouth soon after in some kind of apology. The figure turned round and indeed, it was Colby with the same sad look on his face he had when he'd explained who he was.

"Hey Brennen, what's up?"
"I, um..."

Why did I call out to Colby?
He wracked his brain for anything to say that would justify why he called out so suddenly.

"Could you come in?"

There is was, the substitute question. In all honesty, it worked in Brennen's favour anyway since he still felt like he needed to talk and bond properly again with this man.

"I-I have things...to do...right now" Colby stuttered, rubbing one arm with his hand in a slow and guilty looking motion.

"It'll only take a few minutes"
"Bren-"
"Please?"
...
"Okay"

The sigh Colby let out didn't go unnoticed, but Brennen knew he was probably inconveniencing him in some way so he said nothing about it. He stepped aside, holding the door open for the slightly taller male.

"Chivalry is dead"

The whisper Colby passed him has he walked in forced a chuckle out of Brennen. He let go of the slippery door which banged harshly against the doorframe, he immediately regretted doing that.

"HNG"

Colby almost jumped out of his skin, covering the back of his head with his hands and crouching down. He threw an accusing look to Brennen, but the two ended up just bursting into giggles.

-----

"One strawberry shortcake"

Colby looked surprised at the plate on the dark oak table, staring in almost disbelief.

"Brennen, how did you know that was my favourite cake?"

Brennen didn't really know himself, he just picked up the most recently baked and decorated cake in his little shop, so he just tapped his nose and gave a little wink. Colby beamed at him, positively radiant in the sunlight's gaze. The rays perfectly complimented his skin and his eyes began sparkling. His long, delicate fingers curled around the metal fork, bringing it down on the cake and then moving it to his rosy lips.

Brennen was fixed on watching that pretty mouth.

It parted slowly, fork and cake entering and Colby letting out a small moan. Brennen must have flushed some shade of pink at the display, and so turned his gaze to the side before he could embarrass himself more.

How is he so beautiful?
