Today was the day I decided to ask Will to the Snowball.
He thanked me kindly yesterday for my love letter. I instantly knew I would write him a love letter everyday just to keep him with me forever.
I stumbled down the stairs, and over to my mother.
"Mom? Can I ask you something?" I questioned aloud.
She appeared from the other room, replying, "Yes honey? What is it?"
"Would you care if... one of your kids was... gay?" I asked, fiddling with my fingers
"Not really. I don't get why it's such a terrible
idea. Love is love, sweetheart. Why, do you know someone who has trouble at home?"
Tears welled up in my eyes. "Could that someone be me?"
"Oh, Michael..." She whispered, and pulled me into a deep embrace. "I'll love you no matter what," she began, after releasing from our hug and holding my shoulders out. "I'm so proud of you, baby."
"Thanks mom."
She cried into my shoulder as I rubbed her back.

She went into town with me to buy flowers. I tuned into Lucas and told him to have Will over for ten minutes so I could talk to his mom. He agreed, and Will was gone from his house.

I got a ride from my mom to see Joyce. I needed her permission first, so I came to her house.
Nervously, I knocked on the door.
Jonathan opened it, with a questioning look on his face. "Will just left to go to-"
I cut him off quick. "Yes, I know. Sorry, I sent him there. Can I please speak to Mrs. Byers?"
He gasped, suddenly realizing what was going on.
"Mom! Someone's here to see you!" He called.
"If it's Hopper tell him I'm getting ready!" I laughed to myself. I wonder...
"No, it's not! You have time anyways!" He called again, and she came into view.
"Oh hello Michael! Here, come in, come in," she welcomed, opening the door further.
I walked in and she patted the couch with her on it. I sat down.
"Hi Ms. Byers. Nice to see you again," I greeted.
"Hello, Michael. Do you need something?"
I paused. "Yes, actually. I need your permission."
   "Ok, anything you'd like dear."
"Do I have your permission to take Will to the Snowball? As my... date?" She put a hand over her mouth.
"Oh my god, honey, of course you can!" She was tearing up and began hugging me like my mom.
She rubbed my back, and we looked at Jonathan who was smiling against the kitchen's doorframe. "Ah, sweet love."

"Lucas, want to hang out with Dustin and Will in a couple days? Over." I heard a voice tune in when Lucas and I were talking on his floor. My ears perked up, realizing this was Mike talking.

"Yeah, of course! We can talk about it after school. Over," Lucas said into the walkie talkie, quickly. As if he was expecting it.

"Okay, just running it through you. Over and out."

"Thanks, Wheeler! Over and out," he said, as he set his walkie talkie back on his desk.

"That was a short talk," I scoffed.

"I guess so. You should head home soon, I have to do chores," he replied even faster.

I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion, but agreed anyways. I shrugged. "Okay, have fun. Just tell me if you need help, I guess."

And with that, we bid our goodbyes and I was on my bike, leaving his house.

So many questions ran through my head. Why did he invite me over when he knew he had chores? Why did him and Mike have a super short conversation, with no details? Why did he send me home so early? Why wasn't Dustin and Mike there, anyways?

I pushed the questions aside and began pedaling faster, wanting to be home as soon as possible.

Why was my life already so confusing, with one day of not seeing Mike Wheeler?
