This rhyme isn't very pleasant to begin with, and when you combine it with it's history, it just even more wonderful (:
For those of you who don't know the rhyme, it goes
Goosey, goosey, gander
Wither shall i wander?
Upstairs, downstairs,
in my lady's chamber
There i met an old man
Who would not say his prayers,
I took him by the left leg,
And threw him down the stairsIsn't that just lovely?
Well anyways on to the nursery rhyme's past. The rhyme is a reference to religious intolerance, specifically anti-catholicism in England. Members of the faith would hide priests in secret rooms in their homes.
But the lovely part about it is that, anyone found harboring them would be executed along with the priests.

If u ask me getting thrown down the stairs is much better than being executed, at least then u got a chance of surviving.
Also why are little kids singing nursery rhymes that are talkin bout throwin people down stairs, like seriously, parents are just like oh hey, lets teach our children rhymes about throwin people down stairs, and then teach them that violence is bad. Like ur kinda sendin some mixed messages there...Also, one last thing, anyone else want french fries?
