Chapter 3

*Ding Dong*

Okay, Amelia. Just breathe. He is just a boy. You’ve been around plenty of boys before. There’s no reason for this to stress you out. Just walk up to the door and let them in.

“Um, h-hey guys. Come on in.”

Aiden and Garret walked inside and followed me to the front room. Madison was yelling at the TV because, apparently, Damon and Elena were playing games on The Vampire Diaries.

“Come on, Damon! Tell her you love her already and get back together!”

“Maddie…?”

“What? He’s obviously playing games with her!” Whipping around, her face blushed bright pink realizing they weren’t alone. “Oh, hi. Um, I’m Madison,” she mumbled in embarrassment.

“Well looks like shorty McGee over here got the party started without us,” Garret said with a smirk on his face as he flopped down onto the couch next to her.

“Hey! I am not short!”

“You sure? You look about four feet tall.”

“Um, no. I’m actually 5’3”.”

“Sure you are, munchkin,” he muttered under his breath.

“Well, let me go get some drinks,” I said quickly, making my way into the kitchen. I could still hear the faint sound of Madison and Garret arguing in the background.

I grabbed four cokes and put some popcorn into the microwave, seeing as it was usually a crowd pleaser. But when the microwave had about thirty seconds left, everything went pitch black. All I heard was a high pitched scream from Madison.

Trying to use the counters to guide myself, I started looking for the drawer with the flashlights until I felt two hands touch my waist. I let out a loud yelp, just knowing that this was how I was going to die.

“Calm down, Princess. It’s just me,” I heard Aiden whisper beside me.

“Aiden! You scared the crap out of me.”

“Just come back to the living room so we can leave and find some light,” he said with a chuckle.

But two hours later we still hadn’t gotten any power back. After I got into the living room, we grabbed all the candles we could find, lit them up, and found two flashlights. One of which was being used by Garrett as he told his horrific fairy tale.

“…And then, all the village people chanted out the young prince’s name for saving them from the evil witch, Madisuous,” he said with a smirk. Madison glared back, mock-hurt that he had made her a witch in his story and killed her off.
