There was no point in flying when Zane was standing in the room of one of the rooms in the skyscrapers. People were starting to emerge onto the streets after Lucifer had died so if I were to fly it would give away the secrets of the supernatural world, besides Daniel and Rachel were completely invisible to the human eye - something that I hadn't learnt to do with my new powers - they hovered below the balcony that Zane stood on in case he followed through on Lucifer's last wish. Even though he wouldn't get the power Zane would still die.
I was the last hope for Zane and I had to get him and a make sure that he would snap out of the delusion that Lucifer had put him in. I just hoped that he would remember me and come with me so that I wouldn't be forced to fight with him, I just didn't want to hurt him.
I waited impatiently as the elevator slowly pulled itself up to the twelfth floor; the longer I was forced to wait the more my anxiety grew. I burst through the doors of the elevator the moment they opened, shoving past the people that waited to board the slow thing. I could hear their murmurs of disgust as I sprinted towards the room Zane was in. I came face to face with a locked door and there was only one thing I could do.
I kicked the door open because I knew that it would be hopeless to try and get Zane to open it. From what Ella and Daniel had told me, Zane was in a complete trance that would be hard to knock him out of. I didn't care if it was hard I would do whatever I could to save him, to bring him back to me.
I crept through the apartment with my head held high; I would not show weakness in front of the new Zane. My eyes scanned the area for any signs of him but he was nowhere to be seen. My heart thudded in my chest as my mind jumped to the worst conclusion. I stepped out onto the balcony and looked down to see that Daniel and Rachel were still waiting for him to jump out; this meant that he was still around here somewhere.
I was about to turn around and head back inside to look around some more when I felt a pair of strong, familiar hands grab my shoulder and clamp over my mouth. I was yanked inside and the door to the balcony was slammed shut which forced the person to let go of my shoulders and that's when I saw the tattoo running up his arm. I was spun around forcing me to come face to face with Zane and his silver eyes. He dropped his hand from my mouth and placed it on my right shoulder so that he had a better grip on me. For a while we stared at each other until he broke the silence.
"Who do you think you are? Don't you know it's rude to break into someone's home?" Zane demanded.
My heart sank lower in my chest. He didn't remember me.
"You don't remember me," I whispered.
Zane furrowed his brow in confusion. "Should I remember you?"
"Yes," I replied.
Zane shoved me away from me and stared at me with untrusting eyes. Out of the corner of my eye I watched as he clenched his hands into fists. I held my hands up, palms facing towards him.
"I'm a friend," I explained
Zane grabbed a fistful of my hair in his hand and yanked my head up, forcing me to look into his eyes.
"You're lying," he growled. "My only friend is Lucifer."
"Well I hate to break it to ya but your BFF is dead," I snapped.
Zane slammed his fist against my face and I let out a silent gasp. Zane was against hurting women and he would kill himself if he found out that he had hurt me, especially after what his father had done to his mother.
