I stared at the stick with 2 lines, that I traveled so far to get. That I risked my life for. So it was true. I was pregnant. Maybe you would think its no big deal. It's a huge deal. I live in a world where being pregnant can lead to death or punishment. The youngest person was 4 years old, and born just after the law was made. I didn't want to abort my baby though, I'd feel terrible. I need to keep it, somehow.

I walked out of the bathroom where my mother was to greet me, "Well?" She asked.

"I'm pregnant." I said. It wasn't that hard to tell my mother considering she went with me to illegally get a test.

She stared at me for a moment, then pulled me into a hug, "What are you gonna do baby? You can't keep it. If they find it the baby will die and you'll be punished."

"That's a chance I'm willing to take, for my kid." I said honestly. I live in a very small town, more like village. The place is surrounded by guards making sure you're not doing anything illegal. The second every girl gets their period they're forced to be put on birth control. Every boy is supplied condoms by their 12th birthday. I refused to take my birth control, thinking nothing would happen always. But I was wrong. There's no doctors that can deliver babies, not legally anyways. I need to deliver the baby myself, somehow.

I sighed as I stepped out of my home that I would soon be hiding in with my pregnant belly and before I know it, my kid. I walked a few blocks to my boyfriends house. I knocked on the door as a few guards glanced at me on the way.

My boyfriend finally answered, "Hey." He said.

"Hey, can I come in?" I asked.

"Of course."

I sat down in his room as he followed, "I have something to tell you."

"What is it?"

"I'm pregnant..." I said in a quieter tone. Even before I could finish tears were forming his eyes.

"That's awful. My kid needs to be killed. This world is so cruel." He started freaking out. I agreed with him. No baby should ever need to die even before their born.

"It'll be okay. I'm gonna keep it."

He looked at me, "Keep it? Kaitlyn you can't. They'll find out and something will happen to all of us. I just know it."

I sighed, "It's a risk I'm willing to take. Everyone deserves a chance at life."

"Okay fine but when that baby is out you need to do your best to protect them. Promise me you will."

I nodded, "I promise."

He looked at my stomach, "You're going to be a great mom."

I smiled. He's going to be a great dad.
