Twenty three years after the Second Vampire War. Somewhere in Siberia."Victor! Sie sind hier!"
I heard Mata's call. They are here.
The elder, the ancient blood as we call him signaled me to follow. The smaller figure beside him nodded at my presence.
I prepared myself. This is an old castle. It's freezing as hell. We have no firearms on hand. Just a few knives. Everything can turn from bad to worst.
"Are you sure about this?" Mata's voice is quivering, mist folowed her every breathe.
We are used to cold, we are vampires of course. But this beyond tolerable. But we can't fail now.
"They are hundreds of them."
I nodded at her.
We already had Paradiso. We've taken their Queen under the King's order. Everything fell into place. This is their last territory.
Take down the rebels silently. Destroy the laboratory and rescue the prisoner.
Yes. We can't fail now.
Hiraya.
This is all my fault.
"Oy! Plorwaks!"
I heard her. I closed the book I was reading and glanced up. She was coming down form the spiral staircase on the library. Her lime green scarf flew behind her. Panting and hair disheveled while carrying a book in her hand.
So cute, I want to eat her.
D*mn.
I cursed myself. She's only a child, this is inappropriate. I have to wait at least seven years to do that to her.
I cursed myself again.
D*mn this, Victor.
"Tulong dali!"
I winced. What did she do this time?
"Tago mo ako, hinahanap ako nung mamang nakaitim." She smirked.
The minister? Her teacher?
Again?
"Isusumbong niya ako kay Nanay, dali na."
What? Her mother will be furious again if she finds out. Not because of the minister, because I was with her. She warned me the last time I saw her to stay away from her daughter.
She took my hand and pulled me up. I dropped my own book on the table. "Binabasa ko yung librong malaki doon sa taas. Nahuli niya ako."
I groaned. That book is forbidden. There's no way I can help her now.
"Gamitin mo powers mo uli. Gaya nung dati? Nung pinaalis mo si Elder Ezre para di ako mahuli sa kitchen na kumuha ng cookies. Ang galing kaya noon." And then she giggled.
I sighed.
"This is not funny, Hiraya." I whispered. My voice barely inaudible but I know she heard me.
Her mouth parted slowly in awe. This is the first time I talked to her directly, I expected that. I was always careful not to use my voice when I'm with her. But this time, as someone older, she have to hear me out.
We have rules here in Sanctuaire. For thousand years, we've maintained everything because of that rules. She can't just break them according to her whim.
