The next day you looked all around the bedroom after you’ve woken up. All that could come to your mind was definitely that it was a mistake. You were in love with him, but your brain wasn’t yet conformed with the idea of having him like that and fully to yourself.
You simply dressed up in your now dried clothes and got out of the house without even looking back. Then you walked for a while and luckily caught a bus back home.

When you got home you had a shower and were right confronted by your father.
‘Where did you spend the night?’ he asked.
‘At some friend’s house.’ you answered and he nodded.
‘Why?’ you looked at him.
‘Hm, nothing, you didn’t say anything…’ he said.
‘Yeah.’ you went to your office to work for a bit, or basically try to forget what had happened, but you couldn’t. That was pounding in your head and you just couldn’t concentrate.

Austin woke up late and looked at his side to see that you were gone. He got up and searched the whole house looking for you. Then he dressed up and went out.

Meanwhile you were already outside walking around and back and forth when you suddenly stopped to listen to your parents’ conversation with a maid.
‘They said he’s back in town. They spotted him last evening with a girl, leaving the village.’
‘Where was Alice last night?’ your mum asked.
‘Apparently at some friend’s house…’ your dad answered.
‘What if she’s lying?’
‘What if she’s not, and somehow she finds out he’s somewhere around?’ he said.
Your eyes immediately turned to the street when you heard a car noise. It was Austin. He came after you, you didn’t even know how but you felt he would do that. You ran to the gate and made a sign with your hand, letting him know he should leave but he didn’t even care. He walked up to the gate.
‘Where were you? I was worried.’ he said and looked at you.
‘I…’ you looked back at your dad.
‘My dad would get suspicious, so I guessed it’d be better to come home…’ you said, voice shaky.
‘You sure? I could easily tell you’re lying, but it’s fine… Can I just ask you something?’ he said and asked.
‘Yes.’ you looked at him again.
‘Do you, uhm, regret it? What we did last night…?’ you stopped breathing for five whole seconds before sighing, taking a deep breath and finally answering.
‘I-… I don’t know, Austin…’ you looked down.
‘Okay…’ he nodded and glanced at your parents and then looked at your lips. You watched him carefully.
‘Do you?’ you suddenly asked.
‘What?’ he came back to reality.
‘Regret it?’
‘No, not at all I’d say…’ he answered. You smiled slightly.
Somehow you knew it wasn’t wrong, and that deep inside you didn’t regret it, at all, and neither did he. So why was your mind so complicated? Girls… Or not. You still had that fear in your heart, of falling in love and being left again. He once did that, why and how would you trust him again? Definitely not because of that night.
