‘Mum?’ Austin decided to go directly onto the subject. His mother knew him way too well for him to go round and round before finally speaking something good and worth it.
‘Yes?’ they were having lunch. He actually asked himself if there was no better time but he had to take a chance once at least.
‘Have you ever met someone called Jess? Or had someone you knew, or, I don’t know…’ he shrugged. He watched his mum go pale again.
‘No. Why?’ she didn’t hesitate surprisingly.
‘Uhm, nothing. I mean… yesterday you were kind of distracted? and pale? when Jess came here, it seemed like you had a flashback.’ he explained and she widened her eyes. As always, Austin was expecting a denial.
‘Oh, no. I was just really tired, that’s it.’ Obviously. He proceeded to nod instead of bothering anymore.
‘Okay.’ he got up and cleaned up before going back to his room.

I had a meeting today so i was getting ready as fast as possible. I knew Austin was gonna be there. Just as Mark and his parents. My father wanted to lead the meeting but i insisted on it being me doing such thing since Austin would be there.

During the meeting all i could sense was everyone’s eyes on me, i don’t really know why but for some reason they made me feel kinda guilty and really uncomfortable. Austin could feel i wasn't feeling well from across of that room and he sincerely just wanted to either kill everyone else or take me out of there.
When i got outside i was basically dragged by Mark’s parents and back to my house. I didn’t even have the chance to talk to Austin at all but luckily i’ve set up something with him for tonight.

I was all sitting by the table having a snack and some tea or coffee when Mark’s father came up with something that would get really bad.
‘That guy, Austin, seems to have some influence to bring on the business.’ he said and i almost chocked on your coffee.
‘Who?!’ my father asked and lifted an eyebrow.
‘Aus-‘ you interrupted Mark’s father.
‘Austin. He’s one of the guys I made a contract with. He might be good but he’s still new in here so…’ i said.
‘Hm…’ my dad didn’t seem quite convinced.
‘Yes, you’re right Alice.’ Mark’s father said.
My dad gave my mum a look and right in that moment my phone beeped. I took it out of my pocket to read the message. It was from Austin, i was late.
