Austin widened his eyes in disbelief.

‘You’re kidding, right?’ he looked at me. I faced him and gave him a serious look.

‘What the fuck, they can’t do that!’ he sat up mad. I sat up too.

‘Calm down.’

‘No, why would I? They’re fucking forcing you to marry someone you don’t love, Alice!’

‘Austin, who said I’d marry him?’

‘No one, but-‘

‘I won’t marry that asshole. Never in a million years, he’s arrogant even though he might be good looking. But on top of that all I love you, I don’t want anyone else.’ i explained. He sighed.

‘Okay…’ he pulled me to him and held me tight.

‘What are you going to do then?’ he asked and i looked up at him and shrugged.

‘I don’t know…’

Some days passed and it was basically all the same. My parents bothering me, me having to go out with Mark,… There were good things though. Like me being able to be with Bill, and that I just got a new friend, Jess.

‘So, you’re Mark’s sister, hm?’ i asked and she widened her eyes.

‘What? No, no… You got it all wrong. I’m his cousin.’ she said as she helped me folding some clothes.

‘Oh, that explains much.’ i said and she smiled.

‘Why?’

‘I don’t know… You’re really different from him, I mean, he’s arrogant, and you’re nice, kind… Plus I’ve noticed you’re not treated as their daughter I guess…’ i shrugged.

‘Yep. Thank you, though I guess it doesn’t mean anything.’

‘What do you mean?’

‘You… and your parents. You have nothing in common almost.’

‘You’re right… What about yours?’ i asked.

‘What?’

‘Your parents?’

‘Oh… Uhm, they died… In a car accident.’ she looked down.

‘Oh, I-I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to…’ i sighed and she nodded. I had honestly made some kind of association. Austin’s dad died in a car accident too when he was around nine years old. That was when he moved to my town with his mum. He met me, and his mum met his stepfather with who they live now.

‘It’s okay. It was a long time ago, I was six. That’s why I live with my uncle and aunt and that cunt, uhm, Mark.’ she laughed slightly. I giggled.

‘Okay.’ in that right moment i heard my phone ringing. Jess grabbed it and peeked at the screen.

‘Austin?’ she gave me the phone.

‘It’s a friend.’ i said and answered the phone.

‘What do you want?’ i asked nervously.

‘Wow that’s being nice. Hello dear.’ he played and i giggled.

‘Sorry.’

‘It’s okay. Wanna come over here to have dinner with us?’ he asked.

‘Sure…’ i answered.

‘Okay, I’ll see you later.’ he hung up.

‘Everything alright?’ Jess asked.

‘Yes.’ i smiled and sat down.
