Ron's POV:
Ron was furious. Just when he had built up enough courage this year to ask Hermione out, this Jacob Mason from America had to barge in. He wanted to take that rose from his hand and smash it on the ground. But that would only make Hermione mad.
Ron ran back up the stairs to Boy's Dormitory and slammed the door shut to see Harry.
"Shouldn't you be back at Hogsmeade with Ginny and the rest of the Quidditch Players?" Ron scowled.
"What's happened to you Ron?" Harry asked. "Nothing, just tired. You go back and tell the rest that I just went back to the party."
With that, Harry had left back to Hogsmeade while Ron sat in the dormitory alone. He didn't even know if Hermione liked him or not. Probably not, since she's going with that Mason boy.
Hermione POV:
Hermione smiled at Jacob. "I was hoping someone would ask me. Thank you Jacob."
"You're welcome Hermione." Jacob smiled and took her hand. "Should we dance?"
They walked to the dance floor and started dancing. "I'm glad that you said yes, I mean cause you're probably the prettiest girl in the whole school."
Hermione blushed again. "Thank you." She muttered.
Jacob smiled. "At least you didn't go out with that Weasley boy."
"Excuse me?"
"Well he's so clumsy and he didn't have the courage to ask you out. Like he's a coward or something. Plus, his red hair is always messy and everything about him is just weird."
That was Jacob's mistake to say that. Hermione quickly took a step back from him.
In a flash of a second, he had a bloody nose. People around them screamed and ran over to Jacob, mostly the other girls. Jacob was hunched over, a hand over his bleeding nose.
