I shot up in my bed, breathing as if I'd just run a marathon. My vision was blurred by tears, and I couldn't see past the hair that messily fell over my face. I brushed the black strands back, feeling cool trickles run down to my cheeks as I calmed myself down.

Little light made its way into my room, signaling the break of dawn. Small slivers of sunlight came through the blinds and fell onto my face and the blankets that covered my body.

I then wondered what I was going to do about Dark. He's been getting more active lately. If only there was a way to sto-

The journal.

I just now remembered that Host has given me a journal when I left him. I knew it was only in my mind, but I had to see if I could physically find it. If so, I may have a guess on Darks doings and maybe a way to stop him.

I gathered what little wit and dignity I had left and threw my feet over the edge of the bed, shuddering as they hit the floor. I swiftly stood, cold air hitting all parts of my body. I wanted to hug myself for warmth, but I resisted the urge as I walked over to the bookshelf in my room.

I stared over the spines of the books as if the world depended on it. I sighed realizing that it wasn't there and quickly moved to the drawers in my bedside table. It had to be around somewhere, even if I had to go back to sleep to find it.

I growled, realizing it wasn't there either.

I ran down to the kitchen where I'd woken up the night before, looking around the counters to see if it had came with me and I hadn't noticed.

Then there it was.

It was behind the fruit bowl on the bar, hidden in plain sight. I snatched it up, sitting on the bar quietly as I opened it and read.

Mark,
I know that you're going to be coming to me for help. It's inevitable. Now, for someone whose basically on what Dark calls "The Order", I am going to great and dangerous lengths to help you with this.
Be lucky I'm helping you at all.
I also must tell you that Anti Septiceye is involved.
That'll be something you need to look for. Be cautious of him.
Now, for the first thing Dark plans on doing.
He's going to be working up the murder and torture rates in the area. He's going to alarm people. He's going to scare them.
That's not something you can change or avoid until you read this.
Once he works up the alarm, he's going to try to reveal you. This will be dangerous and even deadly if they decide to give you a death sentence. If they do though, his plans fail since the vessel- you- was killed. If you die, we all die. He's risking his own life to take control. That means he's set on this.
And that's never a good thing.
However, there is only one way to defeat him and fail his plans.
First off, don't drink holy water. That won't do anything but piss him off.
The only thing you can do to defeat him is to wait until he almost has control- you'll know when that is- and then hire an exorcist. That's basically your only hope. The exorcist will have to make him angry in order to take power from him. Once he's angry, he'll show himself. It is slightly dangerous, but it's what you've got.
Momentarily, you can't do anything. Right now, it's just a waiting game. Feel free to read through this book to get ideas and notes on what exactly he wants.
Here's a hint: it's not all about power.
The Host.

I sat the book down on the table and I lost my breath for a moment, feeling winded.

It's not all about power? What's that supposed to mean? If it's not all about power, then what the hell does he want?
