You kicked him? Nyxcould not keep his amusement in at the thought. I really was late.
"He put Daray and me inside abag!", Iris told him, getting a little angry again thinking back."The poor thing, I just hope he's recovered from the shock", sheadded, looking down. Nyx watched her walk one step ahead of him, realizing that this was the first time he saw her upset.
Don't worry, he looked fine, Nyx tried to calm her. Have you?
"My legs still feel a bit shaky... I just hope the bag part was not your design?" Iris looked to the side, not quite showing him her face. Her voice sounded as if she was firmly hoping not to be disappointed. She had come to a halt in the middle of a clearing and moonlight seeped through the leaves and needles above, making her hair and pale complexion shimmer ghostly.
Ah, no...,Nyx admitted, a little confused. Was she angry at him, too? I should have been clearer, I guess.
Iris still had not turned around. Nyx now took a step toward her, somewhat cautiously reaching for her shoulders.
Iris, forgive me, he whispered, letting his hands sink slowly, for this rather clumsy way of getting you out of the castle. We didn't have much time to think it through, he explained in a low voice.
"That's all I wanted to hear", Iris' suddenly very cheerful voice tickled his ears. She turned around, showing him a bright smile.
Nyx blinked, observing his lover engage in laughter and frolic around. She gave him another broad grin over the shoulder.
"Did I scare you a little?", she chuckled.
As she let herself fall onto the soft ground covered in moss and the surrounding trees' needles, her joyful giggle echoed through the clearing for a moment, only to be eagerly swallowed by the thick foliage that flourished around them. Within her sight, dead leaves flew up like shards of light and sprinkling water, a few branches cracked and somewhere, a small creature escaped to another part of the forest that promised more quiet and repose.
Iris lay on the ground and watched the lights come down slowly, tumbling through the air and eventually settling on the ground again. Around her, small mushrooms were glowing in purple, and water trickled down on her forehead from small, round leaves who swung back to their original places after long strands of hair had cheekily disturbed their slumber.
The young king knelt down and offered his jaunty lover an entertained hand.
What are you doing?, he laughed.
"It's all so beautiful!", she answered, almost crying for sheer joy. "Even in my wildest dreams, I would not have imagined all these lights, all these little wonders!"
She sat up again.
"How could I stay angry at a time like this even for a moment? What a waste it would be!", she smiled cheekily.
That's a relief. Nyx shook his head admitting defeat, helping her get up from the ground. As his claw finally closed around her shoulder, Iris flinched. Would these cold showers ever get better?
I know I said Rowan will watch and make sure we are not disturbed, Nyx meanwhile remarked, but we should still keep it down.
"Forgive me", Iris whispered, still laughing.
I understand, he grinned. He was quite enjoying this taste of freedom himself.
Walking on in his embrace, she put her arms around him. His warmth felt even more familiar to her now, as if it were her own.
