Nyx opened his eyes. The faint feeling of something wandering over his body had wiped away the layers of his dream, one by one with every stroke. He felt a little stiff from the uncomfortable position he had slept in. This settled it. He needed a new canapé.

Iris, on the other hand, seemed to have slept very comfortably. She was now lying on the left side of his wide chest, securely tucked between his body and the canapé's back. Still in his arms, she had not been able to move much and decided to quietly wait until he would wake up.

What are you doing, came his sleepy question.

"Good morning...!", she suddenly exclaimed, startled. "I...", she began, gathering her hands before her chest.
What?
She had a way of waking people. Interesting, very interesting.
"I could not get up...", she stuttered.
And?
"I did not want to wake you...", her voice grew more timid.
Aaand?
"Please don't laugh at me!", she begged, hiding her face in embarrassment.
You were looking at me, right? He grinned. He grinned broadly, she could hear it. He would tease her with that for a while.
"Yes", she gave up, removing her hands slowly. Her cheeks had obviously just set out to newly invent the colour red.
What am I going to do with you, he sighed, still a teasing undertone in his voice. Here I am, trying to be the perfect gentleman, doing my best not to loose my mind and hold back, and you go and do this to my poor head, he said dramatically, yet truthfully.
"I...", Iris tried to speak, but her rioting heart blocked her throat.
Nyx laughed. He himself wasn't any better, after all. Glad if you appreciate what you see, he made his voice sound a little conceited as he lay back again.
Iris followed his movements, her baffled face still bright red.
Hmmm, Nyx went, feigning to be thinking hard about something. How about you atone for almost giving me a heart attack this early in the morning, my endearing Queen?
"How?", she asked, more to go along with his jokes than for needing to know what he would say.

Oh, I think a few kisses will suffice.

"So now it's my turn to almost have a heart attack?", Iris returned the cheekiness.
Ohh, Nyx went, amused. I'd like that. Yes, I'd indeed like that, he said, coming closer.

I'm sorry to keep you in my room all the time, he suddenly muttered, having let go of Iris' lips. You must be uncomfortable.
"A little", Iris admitted warmly. She placed her cheek onto his chest where his heart beat underneath and listened. "Being able to bath and change properly would be nice, but...."
But?
"I like being with you the most", she grinned. His heart jumped the moment she ended her remark.
Ahh, he sighed. So many opponents, and this is the way I will die.
Iris giggled.

Once you are mine, Nyx said and stroked her hair. You will receive your own chambers. Your nurse will be there for you, as well. And I'll make sure you have everything you could ever wish for.
The little creature in his embrace twitched, barely noticeably.
And I promised you new flowers every day, Nyx meanwhile added. I keep my promises.
Iris lifted her head and turned to him sceptically.

Anything wrong?

"Where are these chambers?"

Right next to mine, he shrugged. There's even a door behind one of the curtains.

"Oh."

I simply couldn't let you stay there since they are reserved for no one but the Queen, and...; Wait. Nyx snorted. You were afraid that your chambers would be far from mine?

Iris blushed helplessly.

Then nodded.

Oh heavens!
This innocent angel!
