35. Healing

Kelci POV

I was sore. I felt bruises on my face still even after I was released from the hospital. Mason is staying with me but he doesn't sleep with me. He sleeps on my couch and I sleep in my guest room.

Everytime I try and sleep in my bed I just have a flash back of what happened.

I don't like being touched now. When people try and give me hugs I decline them. I know that sounds harsh but you wouldn't know how it feels to be violated by someone you trusted until it happens to you.

Class was hard. I haven't seen or heard from Dre since it happened. I'm glad he's not in my class anymore. I guess he dropped out. The police went to his apartment searching for him and his room mates said he came back that night and packed his stuff and left.

They didn't even know what happened until they were told at that moment.

They said he had a history of violence with women before but not to the extent if my incident.

It hurt me. It hurt me to still carry around what he did to me. It hurt to feel betrayed and it hurt to know he was still out there and he could come back at any point.

Mason said he would stay with me 24/7 and that he would always be there but i was still scared.

I can't fathom what would happen if I saw him again and he tried to hurt me again.

*3weeks later *

I was sitting in the living room and Mason came in and sat next to me. Its May now. The weather is so nice out.

"What are you doing ?" he said sitting next to me looking over my shoulder.

"Uhhh nothing looking at this dress I want online." I said concentrating on my phone.

"Why? it's not like you got anywhere anymore."

"I might go out eventually."

"How about right now?"

"Go where?"

"Just c'mon and get up." he said pulling me up.

"I have no clothes on." I said trying to get out of it.

He ignored me and grabbed his keys holding my hand out the door.

When we got in the Jeep he just drove and I had no idea where he was taking me.

"Where are we going?"

"Savannah."

"What?! why are we going to savannah !?"

"I don't know I just want you to get out of town for the weekend you been sitting at home for month plus and I hate seeing you that way."

I just stared at him as he drove.

He continued. " Kelci I know that what happened to you will change things about you but I know that deep down you are still the same one I met and fell in love with and I haven't stopped loving you."

I smiled at him.

"So ima take you away for the weekend. No phones. So give me yours!" he said holding his hand out.

"I want my pho-"

"No Kelci give it to me. you always try to avoid talking by getting on your phone."

I rolled my eyes and gave it to him.

"What about us not packing at all."

"Don't worry about that. I got you covered okay?"

"Okay."

Mason POV

We drove for hours. Talked a lot .

I feel like I'm starting to see the old her and I love it.

I'm trying to rebuild that connection we shared. I know she still feels it or she wouldn't have me around.

"So where are we staying?" she asked as we passed the Savannah signs in the freeway.

"Girl I already told I got this"

She just rolled her eyes at me.

After a while we got to a hotel near the beach and I checked us in. We got our room key and went on the evaluator . one we got in the room we checked the place out.

"Okay, I'll sleep in here. let's go shop." I said going into the mini bar. grabbing a Gatorade and opening it.

"You don't have to sleep on the couch Mas. You can sleep with me. It's okay." she said with a smile.

I wasn't expecting that. damn near choked on my drink.

"Fr? You sure Kels?"

She giggled. " yessss Mason. it's cool."

We left and went around the shopping plaza bought a few outfits, left them in the car and went to the beach.

It was dark now.

"Damn I use to be scared coming here when I was little ." she said breaking the silence as we say on the wet sand.

"Why?"

"Cause I thought my ass was gone get ate up by crabs and shit."

I laughed.

"You still might" I said pointing at the little one on the sand emerging from the water.

She jumped up and screamed.

I laughed some more.

She didn't like that I was laughing at her so she threw sand at my head then laughed.

No she didn't just throw no damn sand in my hair.

I got up and picked some up , and threw it at her and it lanes dead in her hair.

"Mason!!" she yelled.

"You threw some at me ." I chuckled

"Whatever " she said walking towards the water.

"C'mon "

"What?"

"Come in the water with me."

"Kelci these my favorite pair of 12's " I said being dead ass.

"Nigga take them off then and come on."

I took them off and she grabbed my hand and led me to the water.

Didn't really care about our clothes, we just splurged anyway.

"Man you ever think about us ?" she asked out of nowhere

"All the time." I replied not even realizing that I just said that.

"Really?" she looked up at me and got closer.

"I mean yeah. I told you I would never stop loving you . I meant it when I said you were the love of my life. "

She stared at me for a while.

Then looked away.

"I think about us alot. I wanna let that hurt go I felt from you. With everything going on in my life I can't afford to just sit around and stress myself."

She looked at me.

"Did you really mean it when you said you wanted to marry me?" she asked looking dead in my eyes.

I grabbed her and pulled her close to me.

"Hell yeah."

She kissed me. Damn I missed that. she hasn't kissed me in over 7months.

"I love you Mas."

"I love you more Kels."
