"Tell me, Cosette, do you really not remember me?"
His voice didn't waver, which meant this certainly wasn't a joke. What had he meant, how did he know the road I lived on? Then it hit me. "No. Nononononononono." I said sitting up straighter. I guess the realization washed over me.
"Cosette?" He looked concerned.
"You can't be. No, is this some sort of joke?"
"Why would I lie?"
"YOU WERE THAT LITTLE SHIT NEXT DOOR!" I finally admitted to myself as I slammed my hands down on the table, my pop-tart breaking in half.
I could practically feel his smirk from across the table, "Little shit? If I remember correctly, I was more like your idol."
It was true. I had always looked up to him, ever since I realized he could sing. I remember going back outside when I was younger, to bring my bike back when I heard his talented voice. I guess you could say I was his biggest fan. That didn't mean I didn't get frustrated with him.
"You tried to push me down the stairs! Many times might I add, and you, you..."
"I what?" It was clear he was enjoying this.
"You stole my first damn kiss and moved away you idiot!"
"I couldn't help that you were adorable."
I was flushed at this point in embarrassment, boy did I want to change the subject. How in the world could I have not realized the resemblance before? "I can't believe the little shit next door turned out okay." I teased him, I needed to push this to a different note.
"Well, I worked my ass off to get here today." he laughed softly, reaching over and stealing half of my pop-tart.
"Hey!"
"It's not like I'm going to eat your first born child."
"It's nearly as personal!" I exclaimed trying to grab it back, "You don't take a woman's pop-tart."
"Oh well." He grinned biting into it.
"Dude, really?" I groaned leaning back in my chain a bit.
I contemplated what I had learned though as everything settled down a bit between us. Caleb had been my next door neighbor up until seventh grade, when he moved away. His family had always been so sweet, especially his sis- OH! That had been his sister when we went to load te buses. I felt strangely odd when I realized that. It wasn't like I cared about that.
As I stood up to throw away my empty wrapper, I couldn't help but yawn. Man, was I tired. Perhaps it had to do with all the roller coasters I had been forced on, though, I honestly didn't mind it. "I'm going to catch some sleep, I'll see you in the morning, Caleb."
He nodded, "Goodnight, Cosette."
We had all gotten up fairly early, due to the fact Aiden decided it would be a good idea to visit somewhere outside the hotel cafe for breakfast. I couldn't argue, for I was sort of getting tired of the very limited breakfast items. Once at the restaurant, we probably only had to wait a few minutes before we were all seated at a rather large table. Little conversations began to bloom but I felt too tired to keep my interest in one.
"May I take your order?"
The voice brought me out of my thoughts, as I peered over my shoulder to meet brown eyes, "Oh, sorry. Orange juice and biscuits with honey."
"Gottya." the server said with a slight grin before he seemed to look at me again in confusion, before shaking his head. I could only wonder what that was all about.
Once the server was out of range, Nicole, who was sitting to my right, elbowed me in the side. "He was SO checking you out."
I couldn't help but roll my eyes before continuing to listen to a certain conversation between Macy, Tomas, and Alexander.
"Star Wars is SO much better than Star Trek." Alex spoke before taking a sip of his water.
"Take that back!" Tomas exclaimed, but not all too loud since we were in public.
"I prefer Divergent." Macy mumbled.
Soon, the server came back with our drinks, and I shot a look over at Caleb when he moved his arm behind my chair, almost like he was going to wrap his arm around my shoulders, but just rested it on the back of the chair. I could easily tell what he was trying to do.
"Hey, do you have a napkin?" I asked the waiter, and with that, I wrote down what looked to be like my phone number, but instead was Macy's, before I handed it to him. No one could ever tell me that I was a bad friend. That didn't mean that Caleb knew it wasn't my own though. Mwahaha!
"Did you just give some random guy your number?"
"Why not? He was cute."
"That doesn't count for anything!"
"Then you've got very little going for you, my friend." I joked, and this only resulted in an amused grin on his part.
"I should have known, that is so like you."
"Isn't it?"
After finishing our wonderful meal, we found ourselves deciding we'd play a bit of volleyball at the park, because, why not?
"Cosette! Tomas! You're on my team~" Macy cooed as she ran to one side of the net.
"Okay, okay! I'm coming." I said jogging over. Boy would this be interesting.
[ Caleb's P.O.V. ]
We finally arrived at the park, and just as I was about to pick a team to play on, I was suddenly pulled off from the group. Peering over, I realized it was Aiden, how odd. Something like this was just so unlike him.
"Caleb, we need to talk." Aiden spoke with such a tone I've never heard him use before as he showed me his phone screen. What was displayed shocked me.
There Cosette and I were, faces rather close. It was from the amusement park.
"Where did you get that?"
"It's on an article."
Damn those photographer stalkers.
"Do you need me to call and disavow it?" He spoke once more.
"Actually, no. I think this can work in our favor..."
