Alex's speech had trailed off and we both stood in silence for a moment. I just had no idea what to say. He hadn't even finished his own statement.
"What do I need to know?" I asked studying him carefully. I've known Alex since freshman year of high school, I could tell when something was bothering him and needed to be off his chest, but it seemed he wasn't sure if he even wanted to tell me.
"Well, Cosette, I'm-"
"WILL YOU TWO HURRY UP!?" Macy yelled bolting back into the bus to grab her forgotten belongings.
Alex shot me a look that instantly read, 'nevermind.' I tried pretty hard to brush off the fact there was something bothering him, but it sat heavy on my mind. Perhaps I'd get around to asking him later?
The three of us moved off the bus, following the others inside the building, carrying as much as we could while the crew followed behind with everything else. Once we were inside, we set everything behind the stage, allowing the crew to set it up how they wanted it, though we gave a helping hand.
"Stage right or left?" I asked as one of them pointed me in the direction of where they wanted the keyboard. I nodded, moving across the stage and setting it in the approximate spot.
"Cosette can you grab my water? It's behind stage, where we planned where everything would go earlier." Nicole asked.
"Sure thing." I moved backstage carefully, since it was a bit dark back there, but luckily I was able to spot the water bottle. Though, just as I had it in my possession, someone must have tripped over the many wires, and tumbled into me, pressing me against the wall.
"Well, fancy seeing you here." Caleb laughed, looking down at me and not bothering to move what-so-ever. Great. Was I the only one in this situation feeling awkward?
"Isn't it?"
"Well, the lighting is terrible, I only guessed it was you."
"Should I be offended? I recognized you right off that bat." I was blushing horribly, that was why I was thankful for the nearly dark lighting.
"Props to you. You deserve a prize."
"Oh really?"
"Yup." And with that he pressed his lips against my forehead, like a peck on the cheek, before pulling away and giving me my space back. I could feel my heart fluttering against my chest.
"Ew. Cuties." I groaned and this resulted from a chuckle from him.
"Oh come on, you survived the first time."
"Oh shut up."
We walked out together and I handed Nicole her water bottle.
"So, we're all set up for tomorrow's performance, guys. The hotel still hasn't confirmed our booking yet, but let's head over and sort it out." Aiden said before we all hopped back onto the buses. It was actually a short drive to the hotel, maybe about ten minutes tops.
It wasn't long at all before we were crowded in the lobby.
"What do you mean you only have five rooms? I booked ten two months ago." He groaned slightly flustered with the situation.
"We can just put two to a room, it's no big deal. There is like a futon and a queen in each." Nicole suggested.
"That seems like our only option."
In the end, it seemed I was going to be paired up with Jodi, which I was unsure how I felt about it, though I guess Caleb had noticed this.
"Cosette's my rooming buddy. She promised we'd bedazzle my drumsticks for the opening performance."
