I woke up with the sounds of birds chirping. I got dressed and texted my best friend Megan. She didn't reply, so I put my hair in french braids and walked out of the house to explore. Before I walked out of the house, I saw my mom cleaning the house and I really didn't feel like helping. I felt guilty for that, but what can I do? I'm lazy!
I just moved from California to Maryland. My mom got an "awesome job offer" that would "change our lives" and blah blah blah, so we had to move here. I really didn't want to move because I liked my life in California. I had an awesome best friend, good grades and a good life. Well not really good, a lot of sadness goes on.
I have depression and it's not easy to deal with. Since my dad died in a car accident I couldn't smile anymore. Everything made me wanna die. And moving here made me lose my best friend, which makes me depressive. But I could get new friends, right?
I prayed silently in my head for an angel like Megan to come into my life and change it. She changed my life when I thought it couldn't change. To me, Megan is like an angel, she came in my life just after my father's death, she made it all better.
She made me laugh and smile when I wanted to cry. I cannot be any more grateful for having a friend like her.
And now I need someone to make me smile, laugh and make me want to live. While I prayed silently in my head for someone like her, I walked to the front yard. I didn't really get a chance to see it before, so I wanted to check it out.I looked around and it was pretty big. I heard distant sounds of kids playing, our neighbors. My mom already talked to me and she invited the neighbors to eat dinner with us so we could meet them and maybe make friends.
I gave my front yard a last look and felt something hard hit my arm. It was a baseball. I leaned so I could take it. I took a good look at it. "Caleb Wheels" was written on it. That must be a famous baseball player?! I know nothing about baseball and other sports. After five minutes drowning in my own thoughts I heard footsteps approaching. A tall boy with brown curly hair which looked like 10 years old, appeared, looking for something.
"Hey there! Looking for this?" I said pointing to the baseball.
"Finally! I've been looking for it!" He said as I handed it to him.
"You must be Caleb Wheels" I said.
He laughed. "My name's Caleb. Caleb Logan. I play baseball and my coach calls me "Caleb Wheels" because I'm a fast runner." He explained.
"I'm Ally. Ally Matthews. I just moved here from California." I said, trying to make a good first impression like he did.
"Nice to meet you Ally. See ya around." He said with a friendly smile. Argh. That smile...
"Nice to meet you too, Caleb" I whispered to myself as he walked away.
I stood there thinking. I just moved here and I already have a crush. Wow.
