"Luna," Jason calls, waving me over. He's one of my closest friends, and is in multiple of my classes at school. I follow his voice, not really noticing where he was until I noticed the rest of the pack, which were in the small clearing that was surrounded by the large Evergreen tree's, where they normally have their meets. Curse me for not using my inner wolf senses.
"Hey, what's up?" I say as I approach him, a smile on my face.
Jason shrugs just before our Alpha, Greyson approaches us, his face set into a steely, cold look. I felt a lump rise in my throat. Greyson always seemed so placid, so kind, so considerate. But he looks angry now.
"You're late," He states as he stops in front of me.
"Uh, yeah, sorry, I got caught up," I say quickly, maybe a little too quickly. Greyson raises an eyebrow and looks like he's going to question me more when he sniffs the air.
"Something smells," He frowns.
Gina, his mate, whom he discovered around 7 months ago, walks up and stands beside her mate, her arms folded across her stomach. "Yeah, like cow or something,"
Deer actually... I thought grumpily. What kind of were-wolf was she? Not being able to smell the difference between her viande, deer?
Greyson steps closer to me and frowns again. "Have you been eating, deer?"
I felt a lump rise in my throat. No, but I've been carrying a deer, with it's flesh hanging out and all. And I made my way from there straight to here, so I must reek actually, and with the Alpha's sense of smell, which was gifted, I would be ratted out immediately. "Umm, no," The words that I had wanted to say to make it all go away, had just spilled out possibly making the situation even worse.
Greyson scowled. "Luna, what's going on?"
I gulped, hopefully not as loud as it sounded in my throat. "Greyson, I need to tell you something," I says hopefully changing the subject.
He nodded at me, telling me to go on. Gina stared at me, her arms still folded over her chest in a defensive kind of way, and Jason just looked at me, a confused, interested expression on his face.
"There are other Wolves, like us, around and-"
He cut me off, "I know," He snapped. "How do you know this?"
"Um...." I thought hard, I couldn't jeopardise my friendship with Shadow and his pack. "I smelt them... And, ah, kinda saw them,"
"Kinda?" Gina smirks, wanting me to get busted for who knows what. She never really liked me.
I try to smile. "I mean, yes, I saw them,"
Greyson waves it off. "Okay... But thanks, for letting us know,"
Something wasn't right.
Jason placed his hand my shoulder as I watched Gina and our Alpha walk off towards the rest of the pack. "What's going on?"
I shrug his hand off and begin walking into the direction of my home. "I dunno, Jason, but something isn't right, and I've got to figure it out,"
"But where are you going?" He asks, his voice full of consideration and worry.
I stare into his deep hazel eyes. "Home," I say truthfully. "I need time to think, and I'm tired,"
He sighs as he watches me walk off. When I hear him jog up behind me. "Luna, I'll walk you home,"
I smile. "It's okay, Jason,"
He sighs yet again. "Okay.... Be safe Luna,"
I gave him a small smile as I jog off into the forest.
Thoughts bounced around in my head. Greyson knew about the outside pack entering the Eternel Forest. Why wasn't he alerting everyone? What's going on? Something isn't right.
