Adia

Morning is finally here. I can tell because, I can hear the birds outside the cave singing their normal morning tune. I open my maroon colored eyes with a yawn.

I am laying down on my left side, but I scan my eyes around the cave to see if mom and Chauna are still here.

They are and I see a much larger figure laying next to them. He has a red mane and light gold fur. Wait a minute, dad is home?! Shouldn't he be gone already on patrol?

It doesn't matter. Dad is home! I got up quick on my paws and ran over jumping on his back. Dad woke up startled.

"What? Huh? Who's there?" He asks.

I laugh. "Daddy, it's me Adia!"

"Oh, good morning sunshine! What are you doing?"

"Good morning, daddy! I am so happy that you're staying home."

Dad grins. He raise his body sitting halfway up. I slide down from his back.

"I am only staying home for a few days, Adia. I need rest! I feel very tired. Sleeping in today really helped a lot."

"I understand daddy. But now since you're going to be home, can we NOW start my Lion Guard lessons?"

I gave him the biggest puppy eyes. He laughed while rolling his light brown eyes.

He smiles. "Alright, alright. You've waited long enough. Yes we can start your Lion Guard lessons."

I smile wide. "Yay!"

"You know, I've spoken with Vitani yesterday. I forgot to tell you about it. She told me that you saved her son Sahel from two hyenas. Is that true?"

"Yeah. I was going to tell you about that today when you come home. But now since I know that you're staying, I can tell you right now instead. Daddy, I found out my special power!"

Dad raised a brow. "Special power? And how did you fight those two hyenas on your own, Adia? I am actually surprised that your not hurt or injured being a cub your age."

I look down shyly at my paws. I am nervous to tell dad what my power is. I don't know why I would be nervous. I actually used it for something good. Good as in saving Sahel for not becoming lunch to those hyenas that day.

"Daddy, I have the roar just like you...."

"Really?"

I nodded. Dad looks stunned.

Mom opened her maroon colored eyes with a yawn. "What's going on?" She asks, dad sleepily.

"It appears honey that Adia has found her roar." Dad smiles, proudly.

"Oh. I already knew! Sorry sweetie, but Vitani had told me first before you."

Dad rolled his eyes again. "And again, I am always the last to know things. How come you didn't tell me first, Aala?"

Mom shrugs. "I don't know. I figure Adia would tell you."
