Bad News For Karen

"I NEVER watch the news, if I didn't have a government project to work on I wouldn't be seen watching the news ever", Karen said as she ran her hands through her hair before putting on the news channel.

She went to get her homework and writing materials to jot down all possible events that come up.

"Watching the news isn't so bad", claimed Karen, as she relaxed into the couch, a small smile on her lips.

Then she realized she spoke too soon seeing;

"NEWS FLASH: PLANE, HEADING TO LOS ANGELES CRASHES WITH NO SURVIVORS".

She was in complete shock and the smile that was once on her face dropped immediately, her heart beat increased as she stared at the television, eyes wide and mouth wide open.

Her parents where heading to Los Angeles, she shook her head in disbelief and assured herself that her parents weren't on that plane.

Hurriedly with shaking hands she picked up her phone and called both their numbers but none of them went through, she clasped her phone in her hand and stared at the ceiling.

"It can't be my parents, it was probably another planet", She said to herself but she decided to check the airport the next day for more information.

Once she got to her room, she fell asleep after much tossing and turning.

"Ugh", Karen exclaimed as the morning sun woke her up, she quickly stood up after her bath, she took her bath and got ready for her journey to the airport.

While she got ready she silently prayed that her assumptions where wrong and that her parents where fine.

She heads to the airport, she definitely didn't look herself, normally she would have put some effort into her outfit and makeup but right now that didn't matter all that mattered was knowing her parents where okay.

"Finally", said Karen after waiting for hours in traffic, after much walking and asking the security guard directs her to the place to ask for information.

" Um...excuse me, good day please, my name is---", she is then interrupted by a man's voice.

"I've heard this voice before", thought Karen.

She turns to see who it is and her eyes wide as she sees the familiar man standing in front of her and she quickly hugs him.

"Mr Williams!!", Karen exclaimed.

Mr David Williams is her father's best friend, he was also a the king of a small town and even with his status, he was quite humble and treated everyone equally.

"How are you, the little Fernandez?" he asked smiling at her.

"I'm good now", she said she was relieved even though she hadn't heard anything about her parents seeing a familiar face made her relax.

"What are you doing here?", the man asks.

"Actually I saw on the news---", she is interrupted again by him.

"Yeah we all saw it", he said.

"Oh then I came to confirm if it was my parents", she said the smile still on her face.

"I'm sorry child they loved you", he said as he shook his head in sadness, his eyes filled with sadness as he stared at her, her smile faded but it returned immediately as her heart beat increased.

She let out a short laugh as she tried to convince herself what she was thinking wasn't true.

"I know they love me sir but I don't get why you speak of them in the past ", Karen stated her hands already shaking as she stared at him the same smile still plastered on her face.

Mr Williams shakes his head in pity and when he looks at her once more she realized that her assumptions had been correct, she stood there for a few seconds eye brimming with tears as she stared at him.

"I-it can be ", She choked out as she black dots started appearing in front of her and just like that.
