I shivered as I remained curled against my blanket. I hate winter. My soul leaves my body when the temperature starts to drop. It's only been a month and the only thing I can deem as an achievement during that time is that Jack hasn't said a word to me but his constant stares are annoying.
It's as if he's trying to get all the answers to whatever questions going through that head of his. Luckily I'm not an open book so staring will do nothing but tempt me further into knocking him out or calling the police but that would make me dramatic I guess.
A sigh escaped my lips upon realising I couldn't stay in my bed forever though I wish I could. That would be the dream. At least Christmas is almost upon us, although we have to do some stupid tradition of dressing up for a performance we're doing for the school. I refuse to dress up as an elf or Santa or a deer or just about anything. I'd rather wear the colours but in my own version of clothing choice but It's not mine to decide.
But at least I can look forward to the holiday where I can just lay in bed all day with my snack draw beside me so I can eat and watch movies on my laptop. Just hibernate in my...temporary cave, away from the outside world.
I don't even want to go out even though I know Amanda will try in every way to convince me to go travel somewhere to participate in some winter activities like skiing or something, which I'm terrible at. I just can't get into things like that when I'm terrified of injuring myself, I've watched people completely flop on TV and it's not pretty, it's damn right a nightmare.
"Amy! Hurry up or you'll be late!"
I quickly ran downstairs, grabbed an apple and followed my brother who was holding Catherine's hand, leading her to his new 1969 Black Ford Mustang. After he bought the car on Saturday, he relinquished all rights to his motorcycle to me. I was bouncing off the walls with excitement when he gave me the keys.
Thank God he transferred his obsession from his motorcycle to his new car. Though, my parents were worried sick, have been ever since I started borrowing it when I started school again. I already know the dangers of riding a motorcycle but that hasn't really reassured them. I mean, there's not much I can do until I can afford a car of my own plus, I enjoy the wind against my skin. Makes me feel free.
I kneeled in front of Catherine before she could get into Max's car. She was bouncing on the heels of her shoes with excitement. It brought a smile to my face at how excited she always gets when she has to go to school and see her friends. Ah, how I miss being young and carefree, the good old days.
"Goodbye Cat, do you remember what I told you?" I asked, waiting for her usual answer.
"To always be kind, have fun, and be myself!" Catherine beamed, giving me a toothy grin. I silently chuckled before kissing her forehead.
"That's right princess, now have fun and I'll see you later, ok?" I said.
She nodded frantically before throwing her arms around my neck. I wrapped my arms around her, giving her one last kiss on the cheek before letting her go. I waved at Max and Catherine as I watched them drive off. I hopped onto my motorcycle, hearing it roar to life once I turned it on. I put my helmet on before riding to school. Once I got there, I greeted a couple of passing students who I used to talk to. They were decent before because they weren't the ones to tease and mock me.
"Hey, Amy!" Amanda shouted from across the car park as she jumped out of her car and ran over to me.
I laughed as I stumbled back from the impact of her jumping and wrapping her arms around me in a hug. I patted her back to let her know she was squeezing me too tight. It was always my signal for her to loosen her grip considering how often she does this. I believe one day she'll kill someone by hugging them to death. I guess that would be some way to go.
