What if Annabeth disappeared instead of Percy?
December, Camp Half-Blood.
"Percy. Percy wake-up." A worried voice said.
I moaned in protest and rolled over. I had not slept well the night before, had no desire of waking back up till I got my full eight hours of sleep. Which seemed possibly impossible unless this person left me alone.
"Percy, please wake-up." The voice said more insistent.
I groaned once more. I did not have any desire whatsoever to wake-up. It was Christmas break, I did not have to get up early for anyone or anything right now.
This better be important.
"Who for the love of the gods is waking me up?" I grumbled my eyes squinting to the bright sunlight. I sat up and frowned. Malcom from the Athena cabin was in my room. The only child of Athena I expected to be in my room waking me up was Annabeth.
"Malcom, what are you doing here?" I asked.
Malcom pursed his lips together and exhaled loudly through his nose. He was stalling and I knew this. What could be so bad that he has to come in here? Why isn't Annabeth in here?
"Malcom, what's wrong?" I asked.
The only reason he would be in here is if it had something to do with Annabeth. Anybody else, Annabeth herself would have told me. My stomach was in knots just waiting.
Please be okay, please be okay. I prayed.
"Annabeth is missing."
"What the hades does that mean?" I said slowly. I wasn't sure if I was hearing correctly. Annabeth would never leave camp. She loves it here. She was so excited to spend our first Christmas together. We have plans of going to my mom and Paul's for Christmas dinner. Why would she just disappear?
"Did she run away, how is she missing?" My voice was somehow calm, but that scared me actually. It was a calm that remains in the eye of the hurricane.
"I woke up she was not in her bed. Usually she leaves a note when she leaves, but she never leaves at night and I waited till sun rise and she didn't show up." Malcom said helplessly.
"How long has she been missing?" I said slowly.
"I don't know ma-"
"How long have you been up Malcom?" I said.
Malcom looked at me like a scared child and gaped at me.
"Malcom!"
"Three hours!"
I cursed under my breath.
I jumped out of my bed and grabbed a shirt and my shoes. Annabeth could be seriously hurt out there.
A thousand thoughts were racing through my mind as I rushed out the door.
What if Kronos came back?
What if the next great prophecy is coming true?
What she is hurt?
"Percy!" A voice boomed.
I saw Chiron trotting over to me. His face was ashen, his mouth was drawn into a thin line.
Something bad had just happened and I knew it.
"Where is she?" I said, my voice was shaking.
Chiron put his arm on my shoulder in a comforting matter. "Percy it's almost as if she just disappeared. We don't know where she went."
