By the time you had successfully brought yourself from your thoughts it was nightfall, so you decided that you would just sleep in the bed a few feet away. The night passed uneventfully, only the distant sound of Lynel roars occasionally awoke you. Other than that, you slept like a baby. You awoke at around eight o'clock, odd as you usually woke up at around six. You woke to Sidon lightly shaking your shoulder, a broad smile on his face.
"Good morning! I came to wake you. Everyone was wondering where you were. Also, the first house has been completed. Soldier Dominic and soldier Neal insisted that you have it."
"Really?" You slur, "Are you sure that it's OK?"
"Yes, please be our guest! You're welcome to the house if you want it."
"Yeah, of course. Just one thing though."
"Yes, anything."
"Why am I just ______, but they are soldier Dominic and soldier Neal?" If he says because you are a lady, he is going to lose MAJOR brownie points.
"I am closer to you than I am to them, it only feels right that I call them soldiers. I'm sorry, would you prefer me to call you a soldier as well?" Smart answer.
"No it's fine, I was just curious. Hey um, could you tell me where the doctor is?" Instantly, Sidon kneels by the bed and looks at you with concern in his eyes.
"At the moment, he should be in the middle of town. Why? What is wrong?"
"Nothing, it's just I want to get my, uh, ears checked out."
"Your ears?"
"Yeah, I've always been told they weren't right, it's only just occurred to me that I could get them checked out by a doctor. I mean a Hylian without pointed ears is strange alright."
"You... Don't have pointy ears? May I see?" You are hesitant but, you tuck your hair behind your ear anyway.
"See? They're round."
"I've never seen a Hylian with round ears before."
"Apparently, no-one else has either."
"I'd be happy to escort you to the doctor, should you wish."
"Only if you have time, I'm sure you have duties you need to do, right?"
"On the contrary, my duties only take place during sunset and sunrise, any other time I'm free to do as I wish."
"Oh, OK then, thank you Sidon." He leaves so you can get dressed back into your normal clothes and then you walk to the hotel so you can change into fresh clothes. Afterwards you walk to the doctors side by side, chatting all the while. It's hard to run out of conversation with a prince by your side, there's just so much to ask about.
Sidon stays in the waiting room when you are called into the doctors office.
"How can I help you today?" She asks, a clipboard on her desk and a pen in her hand.
"Well, all my life I have had different ears, and it hasn't caused me any pain or difficulty with hearing or anything, I'm just afraid that they are deformed."
"OK, may I see." You take back your hair. Her eyes widen a bit at the sight of your ears.
"I see, I have a bit of shocking news then."
"What? Is something wrong?"
"No, no. It's just you aren't a Hylian. You're something called a 'human'."
"A 'human'?"
"Yes, there is very little difference between Hylians and humans. Humans can't use magic the way we do, and all humans are not enchanted, except for you it seems. Does one of your parents have the same ears as you?" A memory suddenly hits you, the only time you had seen your fathers ears before he went away to serve in the castle.
"Yes actually, my mothers ears were the same as any Hylians but my fathers ears are the same as mine."
"Then you may be half and half, that would explain how you've been able to see some of the things you have seen."
"Wow. I'm not going to be tested on right?"
"No. It's both fortunate and unfortunate but the ones before you fell victim to tests." The room becomes a lot more sombre. "From those tests however, we were able to determine, that you won't suffer any defects from being both, but you will have a longer life-span and I guess the best way to describe it is you are more 'durable'. As an example if a Hylian or human was to fall from a certain height, they would gain injuries, right? Well, if you were to fall from the same height, you wouldn't be hurt or would have less than a Hylian or human."
"Longer life span? More durable? That's cool. OK so, by longer life-span what are we talking about, 30-40 more years?"
"Well the average Hylian life-span is around 140 to 150 years, a human lifespan is around 80-100 years, you could well live to be over 240 years old."
"Wait, what? 240? Are you sure? That's like both of them combined!"
"It is, the longest living hybrid lived to 287 years old."
"Whoa. That's so cool, thank you, thank you so much. I feel a lot better now."
"It's quite alright, have a good day."
"Yes, thank you, you too." You grin and wave as you leave.
Sidon is waiting outside the office, sat on a chair looking very worried. He hurriedly stands up when you come out.
"So? Is everything alright my friend?"
"Everything is perfect, I just learned something huge!"
"What is it?"
"I've got a really long life-span! I'm half Hylian and half something called a 'human'!"
"A human? I've only read about them. I didn't think they actually existed!"
"Yes, my father is a human and my mother is a Hylian."
"That is truly impressive. So you are fine?"
"I'm better than fine." You smile and pat his arm in reassurance. His arm is slightly cold, but the scales are smooth. Sidon freezes and turns a bit pink but he doesn't do anything to signal for you to take your arm away.
"Ah, yes, that is fantastic. Would you like me to introduce you to the people in town?" He yelped. Startled you withdrew your arm.
"Yeah, that'd be great." You laugh and Sidon puts a hand to his reddened face, trying to cover his shame. No-one touches him, most of the time anyway so it was a bit of a shock. That and he's trying his best to pretend he didn't feel exhilarated by your touch.
"Well, I'll follow your lead." You continue, looking up at him. Sidon freezes once more and quickly looks down at you.
"Would you like a piggyback ride?"
