I can't believe I'm doing this, you internally groaned.
After your little conversation with Izaya, you were now hanging out in Sunshine 60 wearing a wig, a scarf and some sunglasses. You tried to keep everything as normal looking as possible so you didn't go crazy with your wig of choice. If anything it was just the opposite of what your current hairstyle is now. You followed Karen as she weaved through the crowd; ducking behind vending machines whenever necessary. This mission was starting to seem pointless as you just watched the girl go into jewelry stores and pastry shops.
You were beginning to think Izaya was using Karen to distract you from something bigger that was going on. There was no way this chick knew who the new informant was. Just as you were about to give up and go home, you saw her cautiously look behind as she ducked into an alley. You picked up your pace and stayed close to the shadows, only turning corners when you were sure she wouldn't see you. Eventually she came to a stop and a man came walking up to her. You were at an intersection in alley ways."So what have you got this time?" he spoke in a muffled voice.
"(Name) is a teacher working at Raira Academy. An English teacher to be more specific."
That bitch!
"And?" He seemed bored of her information.
"And," she snarled. "I think she's still in connection with Izaya. Someone I know said they see her entering his apartment building practically every other night. And speaking of people I know...." She began to smirk as she leaned against the concrete wall. "Her old friends are certainly very excited to see her again. They want to find her and take her. Apparently they want to host a big meeting."
You felt your blood run cold when she said this. If this were true you were certainly in very deep, deep shit. This something that you had been trying your best to avoid; which was a stupid thing to think you could do. You listened intently at this point, trying to catch into any names but she didn't say any. The man paused for a long minute.
"It'll cost you extra to know names."
"I think we're done here then. We'll acquire the rest of the information ourselves. Here's your $20."
He pulled out a crumpled bill and she snatched it out of his hands angrily.
"Only $20! The deal was $50! It wasn't easy talking to that whore you know!"
He remained emotionless as he said, "The information you told us we had already acquired. You told us you had some interesting information but that was clearly a lie. We are professionals here, Karen, and don't you forget it."
With that he turned around to leave and to your surprise she began walking after him; continuing to persist with her payment. You didn't hear anything else that was crucial so you quickly left the alley through a different route. You quickly ditched the disguise when the coast became clear, the wig making your head itchy. As you were beginning to make your exit around the corner, you bumped into a hard chest. You looked up expecting to meet a thuggish face only to see a bartender.
"Shizuo?"
"(Name)?"
You looked behind him to see his boss Tom and what looked like his fist in a guy's face."Doing business I see," you awkwardly chuckled. "I guess I'll just leave you guys to it."
"Wait, (Name)," he stopped you. "This isn't going to take long so why don't me and you go catch up? It's been a long time since we last saw each other. I was worried about you."
You blushed from embarrassment. "I'm sorry, I'm being rude. You did save my life before. How about we go get a drink? My treat."
He patted your head. "Heh, sounds good to me. Just wait for me at the exit."
