Izaya had been awaiting your response but you still didn't feel like budging. To you it felt like what was the point as probably already knew everything anyways. You sat back with a sigh, folding your arms over your chest.
"Let's start off with something easy then," he proposed. "What happened when you followed Karen?"
You let your defenses down just a tad. "She met up with some guy who had his face partially hidden. I don't think I've ever seen him before. It looks like someone is out there looking for me for some stupid reason but I don't know what. She was getting paid to hand him information but he claimed he already knew what she told him so he paid her less than half of what was promised."
"Is that all?" Izaya asked.
"That pretty much sums it up," you shrugged. "But I keep getting the feeling that he was working for someone else. Like he was just the errand boy if that makes sense."
"No, I understand what you mean," he nodded. "It's possible that there's this whole network of lackeys this new informant has that we don't know about. You just need to be more careful in who you trust."
"As if that will be easy," you scoffed. "It seems like everyday someone new wants a piece of me."
"Well you could just offer up all your pieces to me," Izaya smirked. "I'd take care of them very well."
You rolled your eyes at him. "Yeah, flat chance. Speaking of pieces, you still have that weird chess game from high school? I forgot what piece was mine...?" You watched as Izaya averted your gaze, a smirk now dancing on your lips. "Ah yes," you sang. "My piece was the one and only white queen. Oh! And if I remember correctly it's because Izaya-Kun thought I was just so innocent and pure!"
You fell back on to the couch cackling and clutching your side. Izaya was unamused by this and spun back around in his chair to type away on his computer. It seemed that maybe you had teased him a little too much. But then again it served him right for all the torment he put you through.
"Just so you know," Izaya spoke up. "Your little ex boyfriend was staying at a motel near your apartment. It looks like he was also thinking of renting a room in a love hotel for several hours but he never checked in."
You felt a shiver run down your spine. "Uh let me guess...."
"It's because he missed his appointment for two. It was scheduled for about an hour ago."
"That's so creepy! I just....I can't believe he was going to take me there!" you stammered.
You were disgusted and felt violated all over. It worse enough to have to see Daniels face but now to know that he had other plans for you, it made you sick to your stomach. Izaya got the drift to not mention more so you tried to take your mind off it by watching some TV.
"Hey, Izaya, do you mind if I go to the kitchen to get a snack?"
"Be my guest," he said, without looking up from the computer screen.
The little clacks of the keyboard could he heard as you walked into the kitchen to get something to eat. Izaya was never someone who was a fan of sweets so it looked like all you had to work with was some salty and healthy foods. He hated junk food but still kept a stash of honey butter chips and seaweed chips. You took the honey butter chips and looked for a drink next. You wouldn't have minded water but a nice little glistening bottle caught your attention.
It was a bottle of the best sake and it looked like it hadn't been opened. Attached to it was a happy birthday tag signed by his sister's. Those two were always weird and it wasn't like he got along with them so it felt a little touching to see he had kept this gift from them. Perhaps in some way he appreciated them?
