Lil's POV:

Lil: guys, can i come over to one of yours?
Amy: yeah course, see you in 5??
Lil: thanks babe xx
Katie: room for me lol??
Amy: defo not
Amy: jokes come over nowww chica

As if my dad just said that. He's moving the whole family to America. America. A 10 hour plane journey away from London. Thank God for Amy and Kates.

I'm for sure not going back home tonight. Amy and Katie knew that a shrek movie marathon night is exactly what i needed. Especially when there's bags of black and red wine gums involved. Bet they don't have those in stupid America.

Today's the day. Even among the exciting hustle and bustle of Heathrow Airport, all i can think about is leaving everyone behind: Nanny, my little cousins, my best friends, my dogs. How could Dad pull this just when life really seemed to be going well?

The house here, though, is AMAZING.
"Dibs this room!" my little sister, Marnie, calls. I run into the room nearest me and straight away know this has to be my room. "Okay, but this is mine," i retaliate. Guess it's left to my brother and dad to fight for the two remaining rooms. My room has a four poster bed with beautiful white drapes hanging over it. There's a beautiful view of the extensive garden and an ensuite with a huge shower and the most beautiful mirror i have ever seen. It's above the sink with spotlights framing it and the lighting is so good.
Perhaps there are a few perks of moving here.

*Doorbell Ringing*

"I'll get it," I shout as I start to open the door. Standing on the other side is a boy, probably about my age, holding a plate of chocolate chip cookies.

"Um, hello?" i say, nervously.

I've always been so careful around strangers, even more so than others. My cousin passed away in a stabbing incident a few years ago. Usually, in England, i don't even open the door if i don't know who's behind it.

"Hey," he replied "my mum baked these cookies as a welcome gift."

"Oh, thank you. So, do you live next door?"

"Yeah. Oh and my name is Bryce by the way. Bryce Hall."

"Okay Bryce Hall. I'm Liliana Rogers, but call me Lil. Do you want to come in?"

"Uh, sure. Just for a few minutes i guess. Is the rest of your family home?"

"Yeah, but i'm pretty sure they're more interested in decorating their bedrooms than the neighbours right now. But, you do have a plate of cookies, which is a huge game changer in this house!," i giggle gently.

He laughs, too, setting the cookies on the new kitchen table.

"Cool. So when do you start school? I'm guessing you're coming to Westriver High, right?" he asks, whilst cutely raising his left eyebrow.

"Um...i actually don't even know. I didn't want to move here, my dad made us come when things were actually finally going well in England. So, i've not exactly been joining in his conversations about moving here, i actually kind of ignored all of those conversations back home.

"I did tell you that's where i moved from though, right, England?"

"The accent gave it away straight from the moment you opened the door, Lil. But i assume you're coming to Westriver, as it is the only school around here, plus there's a space because someone left"

"Well, probably. Do you take the bus there? I know i have to take the bus."

"I can drive Lil, if you want i'll drive you?"

"No. Way. Omg yes please!" i answer dragging out the 'e' on please.

"See you in two days then Lil. Be ready for 7:30."

"Okay, thank you Bryce," i said, pulling him in for a quick hug.

"See you soon, Lil."
