Chapter 2

Maya's POV:

I really don't know why i'm worrying so much about the new girl, Lil. I literally spent like a fifteen minute car ride with her. I guess i know exactly what it's like to be in her position, she's lucky that someone like Bryce is looking after her, i got in with the complete wrong crowd when i first came here. But, i feel like she could become a part of our little group; i've never heard Bryce talk about somebody so much as he did after he first met her, i think he might be starting to like her. Only thing is, Mikey thinks she's really hot too, he's not stopped taking about her this morning either, i mean, for goodness sake, why can't Mikey see that i like him.

Lil's POV:

First period: math. Bryce walks me to the classroom, and tells me he'll meet me after, because we have art together, second period.

I walk into the classroom and find that Mikey is in my class, so at least i kinda know someone. The seat on his right his taken by another boy; but the left seat is the only free one in the classroom. Mikey beckons me over to the seat next to him, and as i sit down he rests his arm on my shoulders, asking me if i'm okay now, and tells me how he's always there for me, should i ever need someone to talk to. I wrap my arms around him, and he pulls me into him. "Thank you, Mikey" i say, into his chest.

The professor walks in, and i pull away from him quickly, not wanting to set a bad impression. Math is actually one of my best subjects, so i'm hoping Mikey isn't too distracting; i really do have to do well in this lesson. While the teacher sets up his things, the boy next to Mikey introduces himself to me as Aaron Fuller. He seems quite funny, and he's also so good looking too. How come there are so many fit boys here, and were none at home!? I had a rough time with my ex last year, and my mental state suffered because i couldn't see that i was in a toxic relationship. Since then, i've not dated, but since i've moved here i'm trying to have a fresh start, and leave behind the downs in my past.

Bryce's POV:

Lil and i have second period together, so i get out of first quickly, so that i can meet her after her math class. I'm waiting outside when the door bursts open and i hear Mikey's distinctive laugh. I forgot Mikey had math first period Monday, at least i know he would've taken care of Lil. Out of the door eventually comes Lil and Mikey, but following them is that nitty Aaron Fuller. I stare him down and he starts walking away from us, down the hall.
Lil looks at me, hey eyebrows furrowed.

"what was that all about?" she says, her voice unimpressed.

"Aaron and i had a huge fight a couple weeks ago, we're meant to be fine now but he's really dodgy Lil, you need to be careful," i warn her, i bet Aaron was nice to her, he's nice to anyone with a pretty face and a nice ass.

"Well you know what, Bryce, i can make my own friends. I actually happen to think Aaron is really nice, and you know what else, Bryce, i can make decisions for myself. I don't need you to show me everything, when i'm sure i could ask Aaron to."

She sharply turns away from Mikey and i and follows Aaron down the corridor.

"Maybe it's just her time of the month or something? Or i guess she has a really short temper."

I turn to look at Mikey while he speaks.

"Should we just let her go?" i ask him.

"Well, you are still meant to be giving her a ride home, she's not gone forever. She lives next door to you Bryce," Mikey reminds me. I can just wait until last period and go and find her then bring her home. Besides, i have a copy of her timetable, so i can meet her straight after lessons.

Lil's POV:

I cannot believe i just did that! Thrown away the people who actually looked after me by first period! First! A tear starts to roll down my cheek- i'm a bit hormonal lol- and i look at the floor avoiding everyone's faces.

Maya's POV:

"Ouch, watch where you're going," i tell the girl who just whacked into me.

"Sorry," she replies, still with her head down.

Suddenly, i recognise the bag, it's Lil.

"Oh my gosh Lil, what happened to you? Did Bryce forget about you?"

"It was my fault," she breaks into a sob.
"I'm on my period so i'm all hormonal and stuff and then i met this boy Aaron-"

"Aaron Fuller?" i interrupt her, and she nods her head.
"Okay, carry on," i say as i guide her out of the middle of the hallway.

"and he was really nice to me and really funny, and Mikey didn't seem to have any problem with me talking to him, he was talking to Aaron as well. And then, when we walked out of the classroom, Bryce was waiting there for me but he gave Aaron like a really dirty look and then Aaron just turned around and just went really quickly. But i didn't just leave it i had a rant at Bryce for not letting me make my own friends and decisions and i told him i could ask Aaron to help me instead of him and then i just went. But now i have no idea where to go and i've blown ever being friends with Bryce and Mikey again by first period."

"No, no you haven't. I can explain to them you're on your period..."

"WHAT? no!"

"Sure i can they're used to me telling them, you don't have to worry about the boys being funny about it. Honestly, they will actually understand."

"Okay," she shrugs, still a bit unsure.

"And, we have art together, now, with Bryce. The perfect time to apologise."

"Thank you Maya, what would i have done if it weren't for you?"

I quickly hug her, and then we rush off to art together to avoid being late.

Bryce's POV:

Damn. I forgot. We have art together. I can see her trying to make eye contact from the other side of the room. I ignore her.

Lil's POV:

We're being put in pairs to work on a new project, hopefully i can make another new friend.

"Liliana and....Bryce"

Of course it is Bryce. I actually don't mind, since he's been ignoring my attempts at eye contact this far. He comes over.

"I'm sorry" we say simultaneously.

"No, i'm sorry," it happens again, and we both start laughing.

"I'm sorry, i'm just all hormonal and stuff," i say, still half laughing.

"Seriously, it's fine. You were right. i do need to let you choose your friends, i shouldn't be choosing for you." he starts

"No, Bryce..."

"so i'm just going to ask miss to switch partners so you can meet a new friend."

He leaves me sitting there alone. Maya is totally and completely oblivious to what is going on, and has already started working.

Maybe i was right in the first place- Bryce doesn't seem to be such a good friend. I break out into tears. how could i have gone so wrong already?
