Talons and Tea Leaves

Hermione followed Harry into the top tower for their first Divination lesson. They found a table and sat down as Professor Trelawney was blabbing on about how she could see into the future at which Harry and Hermione smirked at but Ron, Lavender, and Parvati looked awed and began to hang onto to each word.

"Today, we will be doing the art of reading tea-leaves," Trelawney said in a misty voice as Harry, Ron, and Hermione took a cup and put some tea leaves into a cup and added some water and started to mix it about. Harry and Hermione swapped cups and Ron swapped cups with Lavender. Ron was looking gawped at Hermione who he had ranted on about she was there and then she wasn't Harry chuckled as he looked into Hermione's tea cup as Trelawney was tormenting Neville about his grandmother. She walked over to Ron,

"You are, you must cast yourself into the future, look in the cup," Trelawney said in her misty voice as Hermione's face darkened

"Well Harry," Ron said grabbing the cup, "You've got a sort of wonky cross, which means trials and suffering, and that could be the sun so that could be happiness, you're going to suffer but be happy about it,"

"Give me the cup," Trelawney said as soon as she saw it she let out a scream and looked at Harry in horror "My dear boy, you have- the grim," Harry snatched his cup and looked it as whispered started to fly around

"The Grim? What's da, Grim?" Seamus shouted out

"The Grim takes the form of a large spectral dog, it's among the darkest omens in our world, the omen of" the Gryffindor boy paused "the omen of death," several let out yelps as Harry went red with anger and he felt like smashing the cup. After the lesson, Harry stormed off quickly stormed off to avoid the crowd whispering about him. Hermione rushed after him, and she began to talk about he wasn't going to drop down and arguing with Ron.

"You haven't seen a huge black dog have you?" Ron asked

"Actually, I have," Harry said gloomily

"Well Harry you should be weary someone I knew saw the grim and dropped down dead twenty-four hours later!" Ron said

"Oh Please, so you're saying that Harry should just drop down dead should he?" Hermione snapped at Ron who looked quite taken back

"Please guys, I appreciate you deciding whether I should die soon, I really don't want another thing to worry about that," Harry said as Hermione walked up next to him.

Hermione took Harry hand and started to swing, but dropped it as a few girls behind began to giggle and looked at them and she went red as did Harry and she began to look at her feet "Well I think Divination is a bit off a woolly subject, now ancient runes, that a fascinating subject," Hermione said looking at Harry who was brick red and looking as Pavarti and Lavender began to giggle loudly along with some other Gryffindor who was looking at Harry and Hermione. Hermione went just as red as they trudged down to Hagrid's hut.

"How many subjects do you plan to take Hermione, hang on, Divination is at the same time as Ancient Runes, you'd have to be in two classes at once!" Ron said

Hermione let out a loud giggle and she looked at Harry who laughed at Ron, "how can anyone be in two places at once? Broaden your minds venture in the future!" Hermione shrieked out with laughter

"Come on, gather round" Hagrid said "Follow me," Hagrid walked off as Harry and the class of Gryffindors and Slytherins followed Hagrid into the bushes "Now open your books to page 49,"

"How exactly do we do that?" Malfoy sneered

"Well you stroke it o' course," Hagrid said as the whole class begun to stroke the book apart from Neville who got attacked by the book, much to Malfoy's delight 

"While I think it's funny," Hermione snapped at Ron

"Oh yeah really funny, really witty!" Malfoy sneered "I can't believe how low this school's sunk, wait until my father hears they've got this oaf teaching,"

"Shut up Malfoy," Harry said walking towards Malfoy and the whole class turned

"Oooh, Granger looks you've got yourself a boyfriend!" Malfoy sneered as Harry and Hermione went brick-red"Oh no look Dementor!" Harry turned around as saw Malfoy, Crabbe, Goyle and Pansy with their hoods on and waking 'oooooh' noises. Hermione walked forward and turned Harry around and pulled a face at Malfoy as the Slytherins started to jeer and a few of the girls started to giggle. Harry and Hermione walked past Ron who was giggling at Neville as Hagrid made his way to the front of the classroom. Hagrid raised his hands up and he revealed a creature which was an eagle, with horses feet and a tail. Hermione grabbed Harry's again and even Malfoy gasped as the creature made his way forward.

"Say hello to Buckbeak," Hagrid said

"Hagrid, exactly what is that?" Ron said

"That's a Hippogriff," Hagrid said, "Now who'll like to say hello?" The whole class backed away and Neville hid under a rock and it left Harry looking as if he had stepped forward.

"Well done Harry," Hagrid clapped his hands as Harry swung around to see Hermione slightly pale, Ron giving him the 'go on' look and Malfoy sniggering. "Now make your bow," 

Harry bowed low as Buckbeak his wings and Hagrid warned him off, and Hermione let out a little shriek, but eventually lowered his head and bowed his head.

"Well done 'Arry," he fed Buckbeak a ferret "Now you can pat him," Hagrid said. Harry slowly walked to Buckbeak who seemed to warm to his presence and he slowly put a hand on Buckbeak who poured her head into Buckbeak and all the Gryffindors clapped and Hermione almost did a small leap to which even Hagrid turned around, she went red and looked back down at the ground and more of the girls let out a small giggle and Hermione went just red as he had done. "Now he'll let you ride him,"

"What, Hagrid," Harry tried to argue but was lifted easily onto Buckbeak's back and he slapped Buckbeak and he lifted into the sky. Hermione ran after Buckbeak clapping and so did most the class even Malfoy. Harry soared around the castle on Buckbeak and they went down to the lake which Harry enjoyed before Buckbeak came down as did Harry who came to applause and people patting him on the back. Hermione took his hand and gave it a squeeze and she went a bit red when Lavender started to make love heart symbols and Pavarti started writing Hermione loves Harry in bright red and passing it around the classroom.

"Yeah you're not dangerous at all you great ugly brute," Malfoy said swaggering up to Buckbeak she roared and Malfoy looked shocked. Hermione jumped onto Harry swarming him with her arms and a half the class jumped to the ground, Buckbeak brought down a large foot and struck Malfoy in the arm. Hagrid calmed Buckbeak down and sent him off. Malfoy was taken to the hospital wing and Harry and Hermione went off hand in hand.
