The Patronus

The next morning Harry saw Hermione at breakfast she looked like she had been crying all night, Harry wanted to go and speak to her but he wasn't ready so decided to take his breakfast outside and went to a different spot and pondered. Harry saw Hermione walking over to him and he tried to move but he couldn't he just had to listen.

"Harry," Hermione said her eyes wide and red

"Yes?" Harry said as Hermione sat down

"I'm sorry, I only did that because I care about you!" Hermione said as this hit Harry's heart hard he never thought of it like that he took Hermione in her arms and she flung herself onto him and squeezed him before breaking away and Harry handed her a piece of toast.

"I'm sorry," Harry said as Hermione seemed to glow he felt the grass warm up and in a burst of bright white light Hermione's tear marks faded her brilliant brown eyes lit up and her smile returned

"What just happened I felt like, amazing!" Hermione said

"Dunno, the only thing I've read like that is birth bonds and those are so rare-" Harry began

"You never know," Hermione said as Harry got up "where are you going?"

"To see Lupin you should come as well, he going to tell me how to ward off those Dementors," Harry said as Hermione leapt up beside him. They walked into the History of Magic classroom where Lupin had a large box.

"Good morning Harry, and Hermione," Lupin said

"Well sir, I just think that Hermione because on the train and at the Quidditch pitch so-" Harry began

"It's fine I would have requested Miss Granger come here," Lupin said "now back to Dementors, Dementors are the foulest things to inhabit this world, they feed on human happiness and eventually their soul, but there is a charm called the Patronus charm that acts a shield between you and the Dementor,"

"So why did me and Harry faint are we just-" Hermione hung her head "weak?"

"I no way are you and Harry weak, it is because you have seen true horrors in your past the none of your friends have seen," Lupin said smiling "ok this is a Boggart when it sees Harry it will turn into a Dementor, now Harry you first," Lupin looked as Harry walked up to the Boggart "when I open the box think of a happy memory and say the inaction 'Expecto Patronum'" he nodded as Harry closed his eyes and think back to his kiss with Hermione he raised his wand. He gasped as the Dementor rose out the box,

"Expecto Patronum!" Harry said and in awe of Hermione and Professor Lupin a silvery-white appeared out the end of Harry's wand and forced the Dementor back and back into the box as Lupin cheered and handed Harry a bar of chocolate

"Now Hermione," Lupin said as Hermione slowly walked over she raised her wand as the Dementor rose again as it saw her 

"Expecto Patronum!" Hermione said and again the same silvery-white shield formed again and pushed the Dementor into its box. Harry handed Hermione some chocolate as Lupin gave another cheer.

"You know you two are great before your time, Harry you could have given your father a run for his money, and Hermione you remind me just of Lilly," Lupin said as he dismissed both the two young teenagers.

Those words played on Harry's mind, it was true, of what he had heard Hermione was like his mother, what if he was right about the birth bond? 

"Hermione, I need to know if we are bonded," Harry said

"Yes, so do I, but how?" Hermione said sitting next to Harry "I know give me your hand," Hermione took Harry's hand and cut it and took some blood and did the same with hers and put it into tubes. She ran to her books and she took out her wand she waved it at the to tubes Harry jaw dropped as both tubes went bright white and burst out the tubes and linked up and fell onto a small tray shining white.

"So were-" Harry said gaping

"Birth bonded!" Hermione almost did a back flip she was so happy she ran at Harry and hugged him tightly

"So what I've read, it's a rare piece of magic, used by harnessing the power of love and taking some blood of a newborn baby and putting the Patronus inside and sending it out and it finds another baby and they will be bonded," Harry said with a grin of his own forming

"Should we tell anyone?" Hermione asked

"Not yet, we don't want the whole school thinking we're weird," Harry said Hermione nodded and collected the white blood and put the blood into the tubes and the pair went out and Harry left for Quidditch training

Quidditch training was miserable, it was wet and muddy, Harry was on the old Cleansweep broom which was very slow and Wood was badgering him about getting a new broom, he nearly threw mud in his face but didn't and waited out the training until had finished. He got changed and fainted onto the floor, he felt Hermione against him when he woke up. The next day was that night all the Gryffindor third-years had a party and they all decided to play truth or dare but girls vs boys. The boys went first,

"Truth or Dare, Harry," Ron said all the girls crept beside the door listening

"Truth," Harry said "actually no! Dare! Dare!"

"Sorry mate, you said truth first," Ron laughed "okay, truth does Hermione have a crush on you?" Hermione went red as did Harry

"Um I dunno, ask her," Harry said still quite red everyone was now staring at him "Ron your turn, Truth or Dare?"

"Truth," Ron said grinning

"Fine," Harry began "do you have a crush on Lavender?" Ron went red as Lavender giggled

"Um, well- can someone just do a dare!" Ron said still bright red

"Okay I'll do it," Seamus said

"Okay," Harry took out a throbbing red sweet "eat this, no water!" Seamus nodded and ate the sweet he went bright red and smoke came out his ear he still ate it and cheered before he had a little sip of water. The game went on for ages and by the end, all the boys had red faces or they were blushing badly. Then all the girls came in, Hermione sat down next to Harry, Ginny next to Dean, Lavender next to Ron, Pavarti next to Neville and Padma next to Seamus. "So are we still playing?"

"Sure," Seamus said "Truth or Dare?"

"Um, Dare!" Harry said

"Okay I dare you to," Seamus looked around "give candy to your crush but we'll close our eyes and if the person doesn't eat it in time, we'll all know who it is," Harry nodded and pulled out a small mint "Now!" everyone closed their eyes and Harry handed the mint to Hermione and he could see her flush, and she ate the mint quickly and swallowed it as everyone opened the eyes. Everybody looked around, and nobody showed any signs of giving in, but the game continued.
