Chapter 1

"Bucky?" Everything came to a stand still when Steve saw the Winter Soldier's face. That hope that had died so long ago came and hit Steve like a truck, wishing to just run to him and hug him, tell him he'd never let their lines end again, but he was rooted to the spot in shock.

"Who the hell is Bucky?" Then that hope was crushed, along with his heart.

"He looked right at me...And he didn't even know who I was." Steve said dejectedly as they rode in the back of the truck.

"Well, it has been 70 years." Sam pointed out.

"He fell. I watched him die. How is he still alive?" Steve voiced his confusion.

"Look, let's focus more on Natasha's wound. Can we please get something for her?" Sam said with attitude. The two masked troops looked at him, not saying anything. "Creepy." Sam mumbled with a frown.

Suddenly, one guard attacked the other, watching as he fell unconscious. They pulled off their helmet.

"Jeez, that helmet was squeezing my head...Who's he?" Maria asked Steve, referring to Sam. Sam looked like he was having a religious experience.

"Sam, aka Falcon." Steve sighed. His friend seemed to fall in love with everyone he met, or at least it looked like it.

"Okay. Anyway, you're going to have to come with me, we're getting out of here."

"That man...On the bridge." Bucky said, looking dazed. "I knew him." He looked up at Pierce.

"...Put him back in the blender." Pierce said exasperatedly. Bucky opened his mouth, thoughts still linger on the blond man that made his head pound strangely without explanation, taking the mouth guard. He was pushed back into the chair, the machines slowly coming down to his face. He waited, waited for the pain to consume him and make him forget again.

But this time as the pain made him brain a clean slate again, his eyes became wet. He'd been taught to be emotionless, but the regret and sorrow in his stomach made his eyes glossy before they became unreadable again, the emotion completely disappearing like magic.

A/N: Sorry this is short, the next chapter will be around 2K words and it's all mostly one scene, so I wanted to keep it dedicated to the one chapter.
