~Hold On Tight: Chapter 7

Michaela's POV~

Immediately as we exit the field, I hear Hunter's voice yell "Michaela!" I turn to see Hunter sprinting towards me to attack me with a hug. As I folded myself into Hunter's arms, I could feel myself shivering. Man, was it cold.

After a few seconds of Hunter gazing into my eyes, he pulled my back in for another hug to try to warm me up. As he hugged me he rubbed my back whispered gently in my ear "I love your hair like that, by the way. It brings back childhood memories." Childhood memories of games of tag and pretend at the neighborhood park filled my mind as a smile formed across my face.

A minute later, Hunter asked if I wanted to go up to our seats and I replied "Yes! I'll even race you!" as I took off, leaving my best friend behind. Yes, that's what Hunter was. My best friend. At the moment, he wasn't my boyfriend or the guy I liked. He was my best friend, but I had a feeling deep down that that would change between us and we may become more than that.

~Hunter's POV~

After the halftime performance, I found Michaela and she practically jumped into my arms and I was so happy to hold my best friends in my arms again. But as I held her, I could feel her shivering. I know it's pretty cold but I also know the band uniforms are pretty warm. I hope she's ok.

I mention her pigtails and how it reminds me of our childhood games of pretend. I remember one time, we pretended we were getting married. I now actually kind of wish we hadn't been pretending. I, in a way, like Michaela more than a friend. She is just simply amazing. She's gorgeous, sweet, loyal, kind, honest, great to have around, and just someone I can turn to when I'm down and I know Michaela'll will bring a smile to my face.

As these thoughts occur, I start telling myself, "I think I'm going to ask Michaela out tonight. I can see if she wants to go to lunch together after church on Sunday."

To keep these thoughts from overflowing my mind, I ask Michaela if she wants to go up to our seats. She responds and says "Yes! I'll even race you!" There's the best friend of mine. That kind of ruined the mood of asking her out, though. What am I going to do now?
