~Hold On Tight Chapter 8

Hunter's POV~

    As Michaela and I finish the walk up the stairs to our seats, there is an awkward silence hanging between us. I was wondering how to break it and before I knew it, the words "Will you join me and the guys for dinner after the game? It won't be anything fancy, but we'd love for you to join us." had slipped off my tongue and into the air.

    Michaela flashes a smile and says "I'd love to. And maybe we could go to Taco Bell. I know y'all love Taco Bell so why not?" 

     "Yea, we all love Taco Bell, so I'm sure that'd be fine, but you'd have to ride with me in my truck and the guys in the limo, if that's ok. Hope you don't mind." I say, nervously. Why am I so nervous? I shouldn't be. Michaela's my best friend. Why is this awkward and nerve-wrecking?

     Michaela looked at me and said "I don't mind. I actually wanna ride with you like we used to." with a teeth-chattering smile. She was suffering from the cold and the temperature had dropped from about 55 degrees to around 40 and she doesn't handle any cold weather well, but she looked more miserable than normal. I, again, hope my Michaela's not sick.

    When we reach our seats, Michaela takes a seat by Matt, leaving the other side by her empty on the end of the row. I gladly sit down next to my best friend and wrap my arm around her, attempting to warm Michaela up. I start to lose focus in the football game and start to focus solely on my best friend. The way she rests her head on my shoulder so naturally makes me feel all warm inside. I know Michaela's my best friend, but maybe something is happening between us and hopefully it's meant to be. 

    After a while, she tries to lift her head away from my shoulder and I tell her to lay back down and rest. I hope I didn't sound rude or anything. I have finally come to accept my feelings for my best friend. I like her; a lot. She is just a great girl and I can't believe I haven't fallen for her before now.
