Six's POV
Today is the first day out of 7 that John and I are supposed to spend together. I don't know why Marina came up with such an asinine idea. Really. I mean, what sane girl lets her boyfriend hangout with another girl. I don't want to jinx it, but I'm sure that at the end of the week, John will choose me.
I reluctantly get out from underneath the covers, and step onto the floor. The sudden cold from the ground makes me shiver. I had forgotten how cold it gets on mornings. I hop to the far side of my bedroom, and slip on my fuzzy slippers.
I head into my bathroom to freshen up for the day. I finish brushing my teeth and walk into the kitchen for another ice cold breakfast. I quickly scarf it down, eager to begin my day with John.
After I get dressed to go out. I wait for John outside my door. He walks by, dressed casually in shorts and a T- shirt, with a silver shark tooth necklace, that completely clashes with everything he's wearing. Boys. Cue the eye roll.
" Where do you wanna go today?" John asks.
" How about the beach?" I say, even though that means I'll have to go change.
" Sure, why not?" he replies.
I quickly rush back into my room, put my bathing suit on, then throw my clothes on over it. I grab my towel off my bedhead and hurry back outside.
" Alright," I say, " I'm ready.
I hop into John's car, as he drives us to the beach. The thing you need to know about the beach, is that it isn't actually a beach. We live in the Himalayas, so it is pretty cold. But one day John and Marina were out for a drive, and Marina spotted a little oasis. And despite the oasis' entire circumference surrounded in cold, the oasis stayed perfectly warm. The beach is an hour away, so rather than talk to John, I switch on the radio. He lets it play for about 15 minutes, before reaching out and shutting it off.
" So about this date we're going on," he says awkwardly.
Wait a second. Did he just say DATE!!!!!
" Yeah," I reply.
There's an uncomfortable silence for a minute, before I decide to break it.
" John?" I say.
" Yeah."
" Who are you gonna choose?" I ask.
" Six," he begins, " I really don't know. I do know, that I care about you, but-"
" But you still love Marina," I finish.
" Yeah I do," he says, " but I can't stop thinking about you Six."
He looks down guiltily.
" I can't stop thinking about you either," I tell him.
He looks up and starts to lean forward. I lean forward too. Just as we're about to close the gab between our lips, he stops, and slowly pulls away.
" I shouldn't have done that," he says softly.
" Yeah, you shouldn't have," I say with newfound bitterness in my voice.
The rest of the drive is a silent and uncomfortable one. But once we pull up by a tree next to the beach, I've decided to forgive John. Like a gentleman, John steps out and opens my door for me.
" Thanks," I say, with a smile, letting him know I forgive him.
" No problem," he says smiling back.
I feel a surge of courage, so I grab John's hand and run down to the shore. I find a nice spot in the shade where I drop my towel. I quickly throw off my clothes, revealing a cobalt blue bathing suit underneath. John stares at me for a couple seconds, before he catches himself and looks away guiltily. He uses one arm to take off his shirt, because he's still holding my hand. I feel my heart catch in my chest, as I stare at his six pack. John sees me staring and turns red.
" Come on," I yell finally letting go of his hand, " last one to the water is a piken."
I run as fast as I can to the water, with John close behind me. I reach the water first, and take a huge leap in. John joins me a moment later.
" I win," I laugh.
" Oh yeah," John says laughing as well.
He uses his telekinesis to shove me under the water. I swim back up, spitting water out of my mouth.
Of course, I'm gonna have to get even. I use my control over the weather to lift all the water surrounding John into the air. He falls backwards onto the sand. Then I let go of the water, and watch it fall on top of John, covering him. I wait for him to emerge, but he doesn't.
" John," I yell.
No answer.
" John," I say again.
I start to panic.
Just as I'm about to yell again, 2 arms wrap around my waist, and lift me into the air. I spin around to see John, dying of laughter.
" Oh, you should've seen your face," he cracks.
" John, you scared me," I say slapping him, " I don't know what I would've done if you'd..."
John rushes forward and presses his lips onto mine. A minute goes by and he hasn't broken the kiss, so neither do I. I just keep kissing him until I run out of air.
Eventually we have to stop. I look at John's face. He doesn't look very guilty.
" This time," he begins, pulling me in for a quick peck, " I don't regret doing that."
" Does this mean you choose me?" I ask hopefully, " or do you still..."
" I know I like you more than I did before, but," he continues, " but I'm still in love with Marina."
I sigh. But I'm not as upset as I should've been. John kissed me, and he isn't sorry that he did.
