Three's a Crowd

Day 2 Part 2 of 4

John's POV

The outline solidifies as I draw closer to the base. I really don't want to see everyone else, so I just fly through the window in Nine's bedroom.

Weird my enough, he's reading a book...about how to get hot babes in 12 easy steps
That makes more sense.

I telekinetically snatch the book out of Nine's hand, and wave it in  front of his face.

He looks up in anger, but once he sees me, his face breaks into a grin.

"Johnny," he cries, rushing forward and tackling me, with what could only be described as the force of a bear.

" Hey, Nine, how's it going?" I say, forcing him off of me.

" Pretty swell, what ab-," he says, trailing off.

"Hi, Nine," Ella says, stepping out from behind me.

Nine starts to move his mouth, but no words are escaping. He looks just as dumbfounded as I did when I first saw Ella's new form.

" Do you like it?" Ella asks, timidly.

" Yeah, you look great," he chokes out, "but why the change?"

" I just got tired of being 12, while everyone else was 16 or 17, so I changes my age, so everyone would stop seeing me as the baby of the group. I want to be able to do more adult things.

I see a flash of understanding cross Nine's face. But that understanding, soon turns into panic. I don't get why he looks so worried.

Then, I see it.

On the inside of his hand, there's something written with a black marker.

It's a heart with a big cursive 'D' inside. Definetly not Nine's handwriting.

Oh, I get it.

The look understanding was Nine realizing that Ella had a crush on him. The look of panic, was Nine realizing he would have to break Ella's heart... because he was already dating Danielle.

Unfortunately, Nine doesn't get a chance to say anything to Ella, because, Danielle, with her incredible timing (not), takes that moment to walk through the door.

" Hey, guys," she says in surprise.

She walks over to Nine, and kisses him on the cheek.

" I got to go," Ella mumbles, with tears welling up in her eyes.

She turns and races from the room.

" Ella, Ella, come back," Nine calls.

He runs out of the room, after her, leaving me, alone in a room, with a very uncomfortable Danielle.

Hey Guys, I'm sorry it took me so long to update. I had school, then I was sick, so basically I didn't have enough time. There are some stories I read, where people go into hiatus for an entire school year. It's horrible, because by time they come back, I've forgotten what the ending was about. Sucky right.
