Blake groaned, her head throbbed. What happened? Her eyes flickered open, and panic immediately seized her. Why?

Well, she could see.

Her breath caught in her throat, her heart pounded in her chest. Blake watched as the world spun, her stomach turned. She felt cold, chilled to the bone, but she could feel the sweat rolling down her face, drenching her shirt. Her bones rattled, her teeth chattered. Her chest seized and it felt as though hundreds of needles were poking at her skin.

How? How can I see?

"Calm, my dear child. I am not here for a confrontation."

That woman.

"Do not fret my child, for, when you awaken, all will become clear."

What did she do?

Blake glanced up from the parchment in her hand, Neptune standing at the door. She gave him a quirked eyebrow and a quick, "Well, get on with it."

He nodded. "A message from King Maximus XIV of Mantle."

The Faunus sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose. "What now?"

"He has issued a decree. No longer shall his citizens, nor the citizens of his allied kingdoms, express any form of art or artistic expression."

A raised brow. Blake leaned back in her seat. "An unusual decree. What brought this on?"

"He believes that it will keep the citizens safe from the Grimm, your Majesty. If they express no emotions, then Grimm will not be tempted to lay waste to the villages."

The queen pursed her lips. "Though I can see where his idea had been formed, I cannot agree to it." She stood up, Neptune immediately straightening his already perfect form. "Inform King Maximus XIV of Mantle that I shall not keep my people from feeling emotion, for not only will they lose their humanity, but their will to live. They will become depressed, ergo, lead the Grimm right to their front door."

Neptune nods. "Anything else, Your Majesty?"

She's silent for a few moments. With a nod, she tells him, "Inform me of Mistral's decision. I fear what they choose will decide if the tension that has been brewing will finally overflow."

"You fear a war?"

"I fear for the lives we will waste."

"Blake?" Ghira calls when he steps into the small cottage. "Blake, where are you?"

"F-Father?"

He smiles. "Yes, child, it is me. No reason to fear."

Blake didn't respond, only curled tighter into herself as she shook, eyes glued to her clenched fists. Then, a quiet, "Father, what do you look like?"

He blinked. It wasn't the first time she had asked this, but it was the first time in seven years. He frowned when the tremor in her voice registered. "Has something happened, my little Belladonna?"

"A-A woman. She came by. I thought she was here to visit you, but she said she was here for me. She...She called me Blake, father. Only you have called me that."

Ghira narrowed his eyes as he glanced around the small cottage again. "Where are you, little one?"

It's silent for a few moments. "I'm by the furnace, father."

Ghira silently makes his way through the darkened cottage, feeling his way through before finally feeling the rusting metal of their furnace. And there, squeezed between the furnace and the wall, curled into a tight ball, was his daughter's shaking figure. He leans down to pick up the young Faunus, immediately cuddling her to his chest just as he had done when she was a child. "Tell me, my little Belladonna, what happened?"

The young girl let out a shuddering breath before looking into her father's eyes. He gasped, eyes widening. Why? For his daughter's eyes were no longer a milky white. No, for the irises have taken on a vibrant, gold color.

She swallowed thickly, eyes immediately falling to her clenched fists. "She...did something. Told me 'all will be clear' when I awake. And when I did...I-I could see. And I was frightened, father. So very, very frightened. I ran into the cottage and hid. I couldn't look at anything any longer. I just couldn't-"

Ghira immediately shushed his daughter, pulling her closer and whispering calming words. "Calm, little one, and tell me everything."
