Chapter 4
"Oh my god!" Tara exclaimed. "Seriously?!"
I was hanging out with Tara and Sandra at our front porch on a chilly Saturday afternoon. It was late January and it was cold outside.
I had told them the events of last night at the party with Dalton Walter and had gotten that reaction from Tara.
"You are sooo lucky!" Sandra chimed in. "Do you think you like him?" She asked me with her eyebrows going up and down.
"I don't know." I told her. "Am I supposed to?"
"If Dalton Walter ever kissed me I'd fall for him immediately." Tara said. "I mean, I'd fall in love him with him after the kiss since I'd probably already like him before the kiss."
"Well, that's you but not me." I told her.
"You've got a point." Tara said. "But how did it feel? How did you feel?"
"Woah, woah. Chill with the questions!" I said, my hands raised and palms out. "It felt great, I guess. He was a good kisser." The last sentence came out more of a question though.
Tara and Sandra both screamed.
"I swear, you are so lucky." Sandra told me gleefully.
"I guess so." I said unsurely. "It's nothing. It's not like I'd ever have a chance with him. He only did that to shut me up."
"But still!" Tara insisted. "Maybe he likes you. But with that boy, you just never know."
"True." Sandra agreed. "He's a total asshole. We went out on like two dates last year."
"Really?" I said with my eyes wide.
"Really." Sandra told me. "Eh. He wasn't that bad but he wasn't my type. Weird, I know. Dalton Walter is everyone's type. Not me though so we went out on like two dates and that was it."
"Props to you." I told her. "I feel like it would be a crime if I told people I wasn't interested in Dalton. He's a total jerk."
"But at least he's hot." Tara said and we agreed.
"Did he ask for your number?" Sandra asked me.
"Nope." I said, popping the p.
"Maybe he will next time." Sandra said.
"Just maybe." Tara piped in.
There was silence. We finally stopped talking about Dalton. He probably was the hot topic of every group of girls in our school. My friends and I were example one.
I looked around and studied everything around me and noticed Sandra looked a bit down so I spoke up.
"Everything alright, Sandra?" I ask in a guarded tone cause it felt like it wasn't in my place to ask how she is.
"Brad decided to end whatever we had last night." Sandra says in a sad tone.
Tara gasps but quickly turns angry. "That asshole."
"Do you know why?" I ask her sincerely. I was only concerned.
"He said he kinda liked someone else." Sandra said, her anger surfacing.
"Fuck him." Tara says all of a sudden in a raging tone. "There are so many more better guys out there, S. So fuck him."
We all agree but eventually drop the subject because Brad wasn't even worth talking about anymore.
After that, we decided to share stories from our childhood. Tara and Sandra left a little bit after that and I was left alone at home since Danny and mom were at some birthday party.
