Claras pov

Me and the doctor walk up to the car together.
Before i can clime into the army jeep he stops me and asks "remember what i asked?"
"Sure" i reply with a smile, then reach up and hug him, "ill see you later"
He seemed reluctant to let me go.
The were interrupted by that soldier i don't even know his name. "Ready to go!"
"yeah sure" i say as i wave out to the doctor and he gives me a cute smile back.
I clime into the car and the solder starts the engine and slowly pulls out of the crazy circus of tents and temapery buildings. We reach the gates of the compound and he shows some documents i assume clearance for us to leave, i don't know much about war but i think you cant just waltz in or out of the main army base. After a close inspection the officers let us through the gates. We start on our way down the dark road, that is only lit but our head lights.
"How long have you been in the army?" i ask the soldier breaking the silence that has taken over the car.
"4 years or so, we were called up young for the cause and it is affective 16 year olds want to be heroes, and we where losing more men quicker than boys were becoming old enough to fight" he replied not taking his eyes off the road ahead.
"I'm sorry whats your name? i didn't catch it before" i ask
"my name is Thomas"
"i always liked the name Thomas" i say in a kind gesture, but i was not lying i did like the name. "so do you have a special someone before you came to the army?"
"no i never did i just grew up and came here, we had a war to win" he answered not with grief but as if that was the only answer he could ever have. Thomas was a handsome man who girls would fall over to date him in my time, he was stong, well built and had a nice tan to him his sandy blond hair keeping perfect position and we drive down the bumpy road.
After about an hour of us chatting the car give out a choke and a splutter that doesn't sound encouraging at all. The car grinds to a slow halt. until the car is completely dead Thomas tries the ignition again and again with the same un-encouraging result of a shallow pathetic moan from the engine. He reaches for the door and climes out of the car. I jump out after him, and walk to the front of the car as if i could help with my knowledge about cars. I have about as much knowledge of cars as i have on how to cure cancer or how to or perform open heart surgery which obviously equates to none at all.
Thomas pulls open the bonnet of the car and looks at things, i have no idea what he's doing but i pretend to look knowledgeable on this subject, as i do with most things i don't know about just pretend and avoid questions. He hits a few things and then asks me to try the ignition, which gives of the same dull groans as before Thomas's tinkering must has had no affect at all.
We both clime back into the car, he reaches for his radio and starts talking to someone on the other end. I observe that there is a train track about 100meters down the road. we sit in silence waiting for a reply to Thomas's call out.
"Can't we walk to the nearest town?" i ask.
"No we can not it'll take us way over a day and we're not prepared for that i mean look at you your wearing heeled boots and a dress not exactly hiking gear" his voice even "they'll send out another car to collect us and we will keep driving to diver you to where you need to go."
"You make me sound like a letter" i jokingly pout, Thomas gives me a little smirk.
he reclines his chair and lays back on it, i copy his action. and we continue talking and chatting, we have made a small friendship over this journey, and i enjoy talking to Thomas is very kind and funny. Finally we get a call in from the radio and they say they have sent an other car is on its way to 'dilver' me.
Thomas has fallen asleep next to me now and i lay in silence. Suddenly the car rolls forwards, i hit Thomas to wake him up, he grabs the steering wheel to gain control. The engine is not on but we are moving, we are gaining some speed now probably about 20 to 30 miles per hour. Thomas doesn't have control of the car the steering wheel is locked in place forcing us to go in one direction.
The car stops abruptly and we both get flung forward, i smash my head against the dash board as I'm not wearing my seat belt i can feel a hot sticky liquid running down from my head and out of my nose, little stars appearing in my vision. Thomas grabs me and leans me back in my seat pressing a tissue to my head and pinching my nose.
"how come you escaped this?" i ask, pointing towards my head, still a little dazed.
"i always go unhurt!" he says sarcasm filling his voice.
"lucky for you"
Thomas reached for the door to open it, but the door didn't open he looked to see if it was locked which it wasn't he tried again and again my results then he leaned across me and yanked my door with the same outcome.
He looked around and turned back we had stopped on the train track.
A train had gone by about half an hour ago speeding straight through. So we knew the train track was operational, the question was when was the next train dew to arrive.
Thomas radioed with urgency, it was now the early hours of the morning i would be surprised if they were still awake. We got a groggy transmission. "The next train is due to be at your location in 13 minuets and the secondary car will be with you in about half an hour. You need to get out of that car or get it moving soon, because we cant stop it, its on government frequencies and we cant hack it to stop the train"
The blood is still gushing from my head, head injures always bleed worse than they are Thomas had told me, but i still had a bad pain in my noise and fore head. i assume i have broken my nose.
Thomas was now kicking the car door to try to open it but it wasn't even vibrating from his heavy boot pounding against it repeatedly, until he grew tired.
"So we're stuck in a car with a high speed train heading towards us to kill us. I have had worse though" i try to reassure Thomas.
"what on your adventures with the doctor?"
"yeah, it'll be fine, i promise"
