It's been 2 months since the i won the competition. Only 2 weeks until the final exams starts. I haven't talked to anyone other than my family and Joey, who would always message me on TeamTalk everytime i'd play video games. Stefi hasn't talked to me ever since she released all her feelings on me. Rumours have been flying that she would skip school every now and then. She had been ignoring every guy that tried to hit on her when usually she would refuse them politely. She even lost the student council president election when she was definitely the favoured candidate. As of now, the whole school knows about what happened between me and Stefi at the competition. Everytime i walk down the school hallways, people would stare at me with the look of disgust. They think i'm the cause of what made Stefi like this. Every now and then i would see a letter in my locker that tells me to go kill myself. I just simply ignored them just because i'm so used to getting encouraged to commit suicide in games i play. All of this has been happening for the past 2 months. And now, as i open my eyes from a pain aching in my face, i see a fist flying right into my face.
"What did you do to Stefi!?" Said the supposedly most handsome sophomore in the entire school, Michael Wijayanto.
"I told you, i didn't do anything to her!" I said while wiping my lips from the blood i spit out.
"You fucking liar! The only guy she's been spending time with before she changed was you." His fists were clenched and it looked like he was about to punch me again. Everyone in the hallway was watching and cheering for michael.
"Look, i don't have time for this. If you're so concerned about her, then why don't you go ask her yourself?" I said to him while trying to fix my glasses.
"I'll fucking kill you right here right now if you don't tell me what you did to her!" He said while throwing another punch at me.
I didn't have the energy to avoid his fist. When i was ready to take another fist to my face, suddenly Joey appeared in front of me and caught Michael's punch while throwing another back at him. The crowd went silent.
"That's enough!" Explained Joey.
"Why are you on his side!?" Michael said while moving backwards. Joey does have a bigger figure than Michael, that might be why Michael feels intimidated by Joey.
"Why? Why are you beating a junior up in front of a crowd? Don't you have an image to keep?"
"The very reason Stefi hasn't been her normal self is him! He must've hurt her feelings or something!" Shouted Michael.
"He didn't." A girl's voice can be heard from the crowd. It was Stefi.
"Stefi? How are you doing? This nerd hurt you right? This guy deserves a bea--" While my vision was still blurred, i could definitely hear a sound of a palm clashing with someone's skin. Stefi slapped Michael.
"This is how a supposedly most handsome sophomore acts? You're so immature. Pathetic." Said Stefi with a cynical tone.
"What?" Michael said with confusion.
"Okay what's going on here? Who's fighting who? Let's finish the fight in the counselor's office!" Suddenly teachers arrived at the scene and everyone started scattering everywhere leaving only me, Joey and Stefi left.
"Oh my god Thomas! What happened?" Asked Ms. Jenna.
"I got into a fight." I said while letting out a small laugh.
"Come on man, let's get you to the infirmary. You look pretty bad right now." Said Joey.
"Yeah."
After spending 15 minutes in the infirmary, the nurse said i have a light concussion and i should rest for a bit. Joey and Stefi decided to stay with me in the infirmary.
"So how are you feeling?" Asked Joey.
"Other than the concussion and several bruises on my face, i must say i feel pretty great." I said sarcastically.
"Another concussion huh? Might as well get another amnesia am i right? Hahahaha okay i'm sorry i shouldn't have joked about that." Said Joey.
"Very funny. Stefi, why are you here?" I noticed Stefi was still waiting for me.
"Huh, me? Well i thought it was my fault that got you like this. I feel responsible that's all." She said.
"Can i ask you a few questions?" I asked her.
"Sure."
"Have you actually been skipping school for the last 2 months?" I asked her.
"Yes, how did you know that?"
"What? Why?"
"I've been taking extra English courses, you remember what the judges said to you when we won right? We're gonna be competing in the international competition. So i thought it would be good if i prepare from now." She explained.
"Why do you have to skip school for that?" I asked.
"Well, the available courses were only on weekday mornings, so that's why i've been skipping school. I have extra lesson courses so i don't have to worry about getting behind on the school lessons." She said while smiling.
"You sure are a hardworker." I said while looking at her cynically.
"Thanks! Um... Why are you looking at me like that?" She asked while being confused.
"Then what did i get beat up for!? Everyone thought you were depressed or something! And they blamed me! Why didn't you tell them about this!?" I said furiously.
"Ehehe..." She giggled. "I'm sorry. I just didn't have the time. And plus, pretending to be depressed makes other boys afraid of asking me out, and when they had the guts to do it, i just simply ignored them. I don't have the time to go on a date at a time like this." She said innocently.
"I should've asked Michael to kill me when i had the chance." I said while going to sleep.
"I'm sorry i'm sorry!!!" She shouted.
