Isaiah ~
Reluctantly rolling over to silence my clock, tiredly struggling to keep my eye lids open, I bit my lip in remembrance of the dream I was rudely awaken from.
Frowning to myself, I felt regret of ever meeting David, because now I wouldn't be able to get him out of my mind.
After a while, I got myself out of my bed and got ready for work.
...On my way over to my grandmother's house, I watched Roderick as he slept soundly beside me in the passenger seat.
His fingers were still clinging firmly to his red truck as his body slightly jerked with each bump of the tires.
Pulling into the driveway, I grinned to myself as Roderick shot up with his eyes half shut, his blank expression so hysterical to me as he looked around.
"Wake up buddy, we're here," I whispered.
He wrapped his arms around my neck as I walked towards the front door, his truck bumping into my back with every other step.
Knocking on the door, I was pleased to see my grandmother answer with a smile.
"Hey babies," she greeted cheerfully.
"Hey grandma Joan," I responded quietly as Roderick winced.
"Oh, he's so sweet when he's a little tired mess isn't it," she mumbled.
"Come on in," she continued.
...
Roderick was asleep in his room while my grandmother slowly walked into the dinning room to hand me a cup of coffee.
She slowly sat down and smiled as we made eye contact.
"I'm glad Rod is doing well... he seems to be dealing with this flu pretty well. You're doing great with him ya know?"
I nodded humbly.
"Thank you..."
"I've always thought you were a good boy growing up... now you're a great man don't you think," she interrupted.
Chuckling, I smiled.
"Yes mam."
"Yes... that farther of yours I tell you... man was a horrible person for those years."
Staring down at the dinning table, I felt a bit uncomfortable as she brought up my father.
She noticed and let her hand gaze over mine.
"Sorry about bringing him up again son, he just makes me appreciate you more."
I nodded.
She retracted her hand to shakily hold her coffee cup, eyeing me curiously out of the corner of her eye.
"Now... ya know I have to ask..."
"Grandma please," I moaned helplessly.
She grinned.
