Part 12

            Author’s Note:

I’m having so much fun writing Clouds.  Thank you so much for the reads!  It was 40 something last time I checked!

So the Spark Trilogy I’m writing you may have heard of has been canceled, but with good reasons.  I was talking to one of my friends the story was based upon and we got into talking about the roleplay it was based on.  I learned that I didn’t need to make the book sci-fi like the roleplay.  The only thing that was important was the message it delivered and that the characters stayed the same: based upon someone.

So I’d like to introduce the replacement book: The 1000th Spring.  I think you’ll like it, since it will be a school story in modern times that you can relate to.  It will be very sad, like the Spark Trilogy was going to be, with the same characters for those that have read the sneak peaks and stuff.  I think this book will be better all around and so I would like to begin working on it and Clouds.

That being said, I’d like to write both at the same time.  The 1000th Spring will be about 100,000 to 120,000 words (400 something pages in a book).  I’ll have a cover picked out and a sneak peak put up so you can get an idea of what it will be about.

I want to work on that story a little bit so I will not update Clouds as much and I may not update at all for a few days or a week.  But I love this story so much and will NOT give up on it.  I will keep working on it no matter what!

Here is the start part 12, incomplete but whatever.  It’s “complete” now, haha.  Thanks so much for reading and I’ll keep you updated!

-Katie

The auditorium is packed with people as we enter

“I’ll take them,” Dakota says.  Claire shakes her head.

“They know where to go to get to the front of the auditorium,” she says with a warm smile.

“I guess,” he mutters.  “Bye, guys.  Good luck.”  The rest of the A group walks away as Colby and I make our way to the front where Misty waits for us.

Her curly dark brown hair shines, her gray eyes sparkle, and she wears a light green dress.

Wait, doesn’t Misty have gray hair?

When I look back at her again, her hair is gray.  Huh.  I guess it was just the light.

When Colby and I approach the front, all eyes lock on us.  The auditorium has been cleared so that only the stands in the back remain; there are no chairs in the center.  Instead, there are targets, mats, and a large screen on the stage.

“Today,” Misty announces, “Miss Victoria Hart and Colby Maclin will be tested to find out which group they belong in: A, B, C, or D!”  The A group cheers the loudest, and I can see Dakota and Claire jumping up and down.  I can also see Lucas smirking.  If he wasn’t so competitive he would almost be cute.

“First they will be tested to see how well they can handle throwing knives, archery, and strength,” Misty says into her microphone.  Out of the corner of my eye I see her flicker: one second she is there, and then she is gone, and then there again.  I hope my vision is okay.  I can’t afford to lose to Lucas.
