~Roman~

My heart plummeted after those words left my mouth. Virgil stopped walking and stood quietly in the doorway.

"Virgil... I didn't mean that," I pleaded.

"I'm sorry..." he apologized. I could barely hear him. He turned to face me as silent tears fell down his face. He looked so pitiful. "I know I shouldn't be here... but I am. And I'm sorry I am."

I stood there dumbfounded as he walked out slowly. I started to follow him but he was already down the stairs toward the dungeon. Patton was walking out of his room and stopped.

"Hey, Roman! How are you doing?" he asked a little too cheerfully. I contemplated telling him about what happened, but I knew it would kill him.

"I'm fine. Just going out for a bit," I lied through my teeth. "I just need some fresh air."

"Do you want me to come? I don't like when you're alone..." It broke my heart to say no, but I just needed to be alone. I went outside as Patton pouted.

I mounted my horse, Pegasus, and rode off towards the forest. A little adventure always gets my mind off things.

But of course, that adventure didn't come. The forest was calm and quiet, with birds chirping as the sunlight filtered through the canopy. It was nice, but it wasn't what I needed.

I turned my horse around and rode back to the castle. Once there, I was shocked to see Patton crying in the dining hall with Logan gently patting his back. Logan may not understand emotions very much, but he knows how to comfort people.

"What happened? Is Patton okay? If this was another spider in his room I swear-"

"It's not," Logan interrupted. "Virgil is missing. He hasn't been seen he left your room, and I expect that it has something to do with you."
