"I didn't do anything. I know you think I did but I didn't," I pleaded. I couldn't believe this. I only saw Virgil earlier today, and now he's missing?

"That may be true, however you have had a tendency to be quite rude to Virgil, so it only makes logical sense that his disappearance has something to do with you," Logan explained. Patton choked back sobs, but failed as he began crying again. Logan patted his back reassuringly and whispered something in his ear, presumably something like "it'll be okay" or "we'll find him."

I squatted in front of Patton and held his hand. "Look," I pleaded, "I didn't do anything to Virgil, but I will find him. I promise. So don't cry."

He looked up at me, with his lip quivering. "Pinky promise?" He held out his hand with his pinky finger extended.

I smiled and looped his pinky with mine. "Pinky promise."

Logan looked up away from Patton and towards me. "I heard someone saw him going towards the mountains. I'll come with you."

I held my hand out to stop him. "Patton needs you here. I'll be able to find him on my own."

"But our search will be much more efficient with the two of us-" Logan got cut off as Patton tugged on his sleeve.

"Logi Bear... don't leave me... I'm scared..." I practically heard my heart break at how pitiful the older boy sounded. Logan sighed and sat next to him. "Please bring Virge home..."

I nodded and ran out towards the stables.

I bet they don't care. They haven't even noticed I'm gone. They won't see until they notice how much happier they are.

These thoughts filled my head as I climbed the mountain. I didn't know where I was going, only that I couldn't stay at the castle anymore.

The sun was setting slowly under the horizon and stars slowly peeked out through the blanket of sky. The temperature dropped considerably and I wrapped my jacket around myself tightly.

The path veered upwards towards a cave. I walked in, figuring that it would be the best place for shelter, at least for the night. I sinked against the cave wall as darkness closed around me. The final thing I saw before I was taken by sleep was a pair of large yellow eyes, accompanied by rows of sharp teeth.
