Emily shook me awake making sure I didn't try to go back to sleep by pulling my hair. Great. I slowly got up and started to get dressed inside the tent, I put on jeans and my light pink shirt and then throw my grey FGL sweatshirt overtop. I walk out of the tent still half asleep and find most people by the table. We all eat breakfast and then go over and make sandwiches for the pictured rocks hike. We packed up some stuff and hopped on the bus. I don't remember if I sat next kelvin or not, I think I did. Not that it really matters, right? Whatever. We arrived at pictured rocks and I have to pee so Madison and I go into the bathroom and everyone else waits outside. There was a couple small waterfalls that we looked at and then headed back to go to the real trail, or at least the long one. On our way there kelvin barks at a dog so Olivia starts saying
"Come here kelvin, come here!" In a high pitched voice and we all laugh as he seems kinda embarrassed. I don't think it bothered him that much though though, lol. Idk. He slowly walks over chuckling.
"Good boy!" Olivia laughs and rustles his hair, we all laugh again.
After we let a couple people's dogs and walking, we arrive at the start of the trail. Emma and some others stay in the back while Olivia and others are upfront. Kelvin and I walk together towards the middle. We talk and laugh and he sometimes would break out into one of his songs. They were.... special. Lol. My heart was beating out of my chest but obviously he wouldn't walk with me if he didn't want to, right? We walk for a long ways stopping to look at some more small waterfalls with some rocks. At one point I started to walk slower and ended up with Emma and people. Kelvin looked back at me and I sped up.
"Awweee." He said, smiling.
"What?" I ask.
"You came back to walk with me." He responded, still smiling.
"Oh, yeah." I laugh, but it was one of those fake laughs that you use at family get together. But only because I was super nervous and flustered, and probably blushing. Fantaaastic. We keep walking for a long while, 6 miles to be precise at this point, still talking and sometimes just stealing glances at each other. He tells me about his grandpa and other "ancestors" and whatever. It was interesting, but I wasn't sure if I should believe him. Well I couldn't prove him wrong so I guess I had no other choice, right? I do that a lot, say, right? Right? The next .3 miles are pure mud and I'm trying my best to not slip and die. After that part Emily comes up to me and pulls me away from kelvin, he gives me a confused look. I shrug.
"So should it be keredith or Melvin?" So asks.
"Oh my god Emily." I say, putting my hands to my face.
"Cmon everyone knows." She insists.
"Whatever." I say, trying to act like it's nothing but I'm failing and she can tell.
Kelvin catches up and she keeps teasing us.
"Melviiiiiin" she mocks.
"Shut up Jemily." I snap back laughing, and kelvin cracks up.
"What?" She asks, confused as to what u said.
Kelvin and I look at each other and laugh.
"Nothing." I respond. Emily runs ahead of us.
We walk for a couple minutes not saying anything.
"Is it awkward now?" Kelvin asks turning to me.
"What do you mean." I say.
"With Emily and stuff." He clarifies.
I knew what he was talking about but just wanted to make sure we were thinking the same thing.
"No it's fine I don't care." I respond.
"Okaaaay." He says, giving me a goofy smile. I look down.
We walk the rest of the way with my hands in my pockets. I take them out with that dumb hope of him grabbing on, but it doesn't happen. I didn't really care though, right? (There's the "right?" again)
The hike comes to an end and we head back to the bus. It starts to rain hard as we drive back to the KOA.
Kelvin and I sit next to each other as all of the seats were taken. Thanks Emily. Not that I was complaining. Everyone kept teasing us about it and kelvin kept saying sorry. I'd always say it's fine. Then I stole his hat and Chris said I looked better in it then kelvin did, ha. They would all start singing songs but switched up the lyrics, one of them was, I quote:
"Oh and here's a random fact you still have my favorite hat and you need to give it back."
I covered my face with my hands and his head fell backwards.
"Hey kelvin is the dye coming off your sweatshirt?" Kate jokes. His sweatshirt was red. I laugh,
"Good one." I say.
"And meredith is the dye coming off your hat?" Kate says laughing.
"It's not my hat." I reply smiling. Yep that definitely made things better, ha.
A little while goes by and i listen as kelvin and Chris speak to each other in Albanian. I then hear kelvin mumble something.
"What?" I ask, not understanding what he said. He puts his elbow up on my headrest and leans in.
"I like you, for real." He whispers, smiling.
I don't know how to reply, my heart is pounding. So I just smile really big and mouth
"Same." But he doesn't catch it.
"He wants me to ask you out but I don't know if..." he points his shoulder towards Chris.
"Yeah." I agree, pretending I know what he means. I don't.
I look out the window smiling and not really sure how to handle this. All I wanted to do was text my best friends and ask them what to do. I kept thinking that as I stared out the window. I see kelvin and Chris mouthing to each other out of the corner of my eye.
"Is it awkward now?" I hear kelvin ask me, I jump when I turn my head as he's kinda close.
"No it's fine, really. I'm just..." I respond.
"Okay." He says, pretending that he knows what I'm talking about this time. I'm pretty certain he doesn't. We arrive at what we thought was the gift shop but turned out to be the bathrooms so we're running back and forth in the pouring rain. Kelvin's hat keeps my hair dry though, ;). Kill me now please. We get back on the bus almost forgetting Molly in the bathrooms. He asks for his hat back.
